There are quite a few places to eat right off campus. However, most require a car to get to. There are good restaurants right on the beach, and in downtown Wilmington.

Diversity is supported and encouraged. There are multiple programs and offices specifically made to encourage diversity. Everyone kind and accepting to everyone else on campus. The lack of bullying and barriers between students help students have a better overall experience here at UNCW.

There are several options, many close to campus. Pricing is decent depending on size and rooms. I live farther away and would argue the apartments get better but more expensive, and the commute can be long depending on traffic. Overall not too bad considering the area of town.

Guys & Girls:
I don't spend much time on campus but many people have a similar style, boys and girls alike. Girls wear whatever is in style so to say, many are in sororities and travel in packs. There are many guys who skateboard or athletic, as well as a sizeable group of nerds. You are likely to encounter southerners of all types, religious people, some international students and others from around the country.

Computers get the job done, a little old but not too outdated. Although, there seem to be a few that wont work each day and sometimes the print system is down. The best thing about the computers is Internet access, which is relatively fast. Most of the time you can find a computer in the library.

Unfortunately our Basketball team doesn't do a good job, but our Soccer teams are great and a lot of people usually attend soccer games as well as, rugby.

Need more night clubs for people who are 18-and-older. House parties are nice except you have to always be running from the cops 30 minutes into the party.

It has been great being a marine bio major at UNCW. They offer a huge variety of study abroad programs (one of which I participated in). The classes are challenging but informative. I have really enjoyed learning here, we live by the beach so teachers can give specific example that we can see on the beach when we are out there.

Guys & Girls:
The guys at UNCW are very attractive. Some of them are a bit full of themselves. There are all sorts of guys though. There's the fratty type, there's a whole band of hipsters, the religious Jesus kids and even a bunch of studious boys.
The girls at UNCW are pretty attractive as well. They seem to be very studious too. It really depends the range of people at UNCW is pretty wide.

I love this school. I am challenged academically while surrounded by an amazing campus and student life. I have been happy with all of the classes I have taken. I am a marine biology major and the program is one of the best in the country. My teachers have been great! When I don't understand something in class I can always ask my teachers. There are also supplemental instruction classes that have helped me tremendously.

There is a very nice recreation center, beautiful fields, for example the baseball and intramural fields, and a very nice student center equipped with a coffee shop as well as a movie theater. The library is a great place to go and study with friends, but sometimes I have trouble finding a place to study with my group. The basketball games as well as other sporting events are competitive as well as exciting to watch.

Everyone at the school is very polite and willing to you help you out if you are in a time of need. The Greek life at UNCW is great and they do a lot for the surrounding communities. On top of UNCW being a very friendly school, the atmosphere is also very laid back due to the fact that the beach is about a ten minute drive from campus. I love the location of my school. The recreation center that has just been completed is outstanding. It is one of the largest, if not the largest recreation center I have ever been to. Not only is it large, but it also has a variety of different activities individuals can partake in. I feel as though I am spoiled by having the privilege of attending such a fine university. The only negative thing about UNCW is that there is no football team. Then again if Wilmington had a football team I believe that the school would become much larger and the atmosphere that I know and love would change.

The History department at UNCW gives you many options and so many of the professors seem qualified, experienced in the field, and happy to help! I would definitely recommend! History is such a broad major, it seems impossible to place a limit on it after graduation!

I feel like the teachers are very interested in teaching students and helping them to learn.

UNCW is not very racially diverse not only that but there is a lot of active racism on campus. That being said not everyone is like that and it's very easy to find comfort within your individual group. Still I do wish that people would mix more and be less ignorant.

When I stayed on campus at UNCW I lived in the apartments they were spacious they had a nice kitchen and everyone had there own room. The only problem is the shower was gross and there was no scrubbing you could do to make it better, however I'm sure it was much less gross than any dorm shower.
College Junior 2013-07-28T23:22:42Z
It is always raining at UNCW and when it rains it monsoons. Heavy rain won't close classes although it makes it very hard to get there when your driving or when certain parts of the campus are flooded.

I'm studying Theater and I am enjoying it but I don't think they are teaching theater at the highest possible level. They are gearing the way they teach more towards production then technique acting skills etc. they are nowhere near conservatory level.

Being in a frat or soro is a huge deal to people who are in the frat/ soro but many people who are not in a frat/soro are annoyed by the type of enthusiasm they show. Frat/soro parties start of fun until they decide to make the party all about greek stuff no one else can relate to and even interrupt and push people out of the way who aren't greek. So I'm sure it's fun to be in a Greek society at my school but it's not fun to be around them if you're not in one

UNCW has a little bit of both when it comes to housing. It's either a hit or miss, but when you get placed in somewhere like Cornerstone for your freshman year, you know you've got the best.
College Sophomore 2013-07-24T20:59:16Z
while there is always something to do, if you sit in your dorm room and just expect to hear about parties, it probably won't happen. besides little gatherings in dorms, there are no parties on campus.. all the frat and athlete parties are in the neighborhoods around the school. some of the frats charge for a cup... $10 for guys and $5 for girls which is dumb... people in general here are very possessive of their alcohol. also look out for the police because they have been known to show up at and breathalyze everyone at a party and hand out underage drinking tickets... the bars are pretty much only good for grinding with guidos if you're into that.. sandbar does make their drinks strong though and they're getting renovated and changing their name. for a club in a strip mall i suppose it's not that bad. overall, while there is much room for improvement, UNCW is a fun school if you're a laid back person... if you're uptight and can't handle these issues, don't come here

After living in a small town with plenty of drugs in school UNCW was a relief! There is hardly any talk of drugs unless of course you go looking for them specifically. Just like any other place in America , drugs are an inevitable part of society, however UNCW is a very strictly drug free and alcohol free campus and the administration and faculty do a great job of making sure these rules are enforced! Alcohol is a a part of any college experience but at UNCW it is not the only thing for students to do in there free time. Therefore, whether one partakes in drinking alcohol is completely up to them and if that does not happen to be your activity of choice you will have no trouble finding others who feel the same way. If you are legal and drinking is a social activity you choose to engage in their is a surplus of bars and clubs that serve alcohol all around Wilmington and also nearby at Wrightsville beach. All these locations are very popular and often frequented by students Thursday-Saturday nights!

As an individual who grew up in very organic/foreign home, the UNCW eating selections were at first a dream come true. There are two meal halls -Wagoner Hall and Dub's Cafe. In those two dining locations individuals dine in a cafeteria like setting-all you can eat for as long as you choose to stay. The meal selection in those locations consists of a salad bar, a pizza bar, pasta bar, sandwich bar, cereal bar, desert station (cookies, cake, icecream etc), a soup bar, and lastly a hot food bar. The hot food bar in each location will sometimes offer American cuisine like hamburgers and hotdogs and at other times it willl try its hand at more ethnic dishes like curry or Asian stir fry. The quantity of the food in these locations is plenty and the quality is average. Depending on the day the salad is fresher than on other days and the chef may at times put a little more love into his food. However it is never anything to complain about and on occasions can be truly delicious! In addition at wagoner Hall on the weekends and on weeknights there is a gourmet cooking booth with small dishes of interesting cuisines made by an excellent chef who is very friendly and truly loves cooking for the students. Other than the meal halls there is Hawks nest( a food court style dinery with chik-fil-a, a burger joint, sushi, a burrito place and more), a Dunkin- Donuts, Einstein Bagels, A Star Bucks, Java City (located in the library), Subway, Landwich, and several convenient store locations all around campus that offer food on the go. The dining halls are accessed through student meal swipes which can be purchased in varying quantities and the rest of the meal options are paid for with food dollars which can also be purchased in varying quantities! Although after a few weeks my excitement about eating at the same spots constantly wore off, I can truly say that the UNCW meal plan offers fair value for what you are paying for and is also that all the dining locations are conveniently spread out throughout campus so you never have to travel to far to grab a bite! Although somewhat limited, it is definitely possible to be a vegan, vegetarian or individual with other dietary needs when living on campus!

Guys & Girls:
UNCW has a very diverse students population. Although racially it is mostly caucasions, it is not a racist environment at any means the students are all very open and friendly for the most part. The kinds of social groups of students vary, there are preps, jocks, some artsy kids and the very studious individuals. In general one thing the student body shares is a very laid back persona and a very go with the flow attitude. Students dress from casual(running shorts and a t-shirt) to more formal(girls in dresses, boys in button downs). The social life is really exceptional. There are over 250 student organizations on campus and this means there is a place for everyone to fit in. Whether you want to get involved in student government, sailing, Greek life, or the Accapella singing group-there is something for everyone. Each organization forms its own family like community and also does not hesitate to interact with each other. Personally finding friends at UNCW is done with ease and there are many different sorts of individuals to pick from when forming your friendship circle. It is definitely important to get involved to really experience how much fun the UNCW social life can be!
