Obviously UNCW close location to both Wrightesville and Carolina beach make the weather very pleasant and sunny the majority of the time, with light winds to cool you throughout the day. However also due to its beach location there are rain showers quite often as well and the occasional torrential down pour. Luckily UNCW is very aware of its weather conditions and offers raincoats and umbrellas at its information center for rent for a very low fee in case the rain catches you by surprise! In addition there is also a weather alert system that calls/texts students whenever there is hazardous weather conditions.

The computer access at UNCW is really great and make sit so that it is not necessary to purchase a lap top to function at school. There are 2 computer labs in the Randall library as well as a laptop/headphone checkout center locate din the library as well. In addition purchasing discounted hardware is made easy through UNCW's very own on campus computer repair shop-binaries. Printing/ having your own printer is another item that is not necessary to own individually as UNCW provides students with I-print. Through I print students are able to send their documents to the i cloud and then access those documents at any i print station on campus. There are i print stations and computer labs in most academic buildings and all residence halls. Lastly UNCW prides itself on being 99.9% wireless and students can basically access internet anywhere on campus besides the track! The network UNCWwifi is also very fast and has an easy set up process.

The dorms are all very nice in completely different ways. Depending on where you live you get quite unique experiences. If you are more geared toward a quieter and more regulated college dorm experience then the tri house dorms are a perfect fit. The Residential assistants in the tri house area are quite strict but also very focused on truly getting to know their residents and forming a bond with them. The tri house dorms are also a little fancier with pod style halls of only about 20 residents per hall. The more traditional dorms are Galloway, Graham Hewlett and Belk (the all girls dorm). These are also a great experience but a more wild one. Due to the larger amount of residents the halls of these dorms are often lined with students socializing and running in and out of each others rooms. Regardless of what you are looking for personally you will most definitely be able to find the on campus housing option that works for you. The housing sign up process is stress free and as you are required to submit your top three options it is very rare that a student is placed into a residence hall they did not desire.

There are so many great, cheap places to eat around Wilmington. It's a town that caters to broke college students!

The process of completing my anthropology major was relatively simple, I averaged 4 classes a semester and did not feel overwhelmed.

I have been at UNCW for 3 years now and I couldn't imagine going to another school. The anthropology professors are amazing and so interesting to learn from, each with different specialty's and their own helpful networks. The class room sizes are optimal for professors to be able to engage students one on one.

Health & Safety:
Campus crime includes smoking pot, drinking underage, and bike theft. Occasionally dorm theft. Police are good about marking the bikes so they can tell if its yours if they find it and persecute the criminal. Also, the school has multiple call boxes on campus. Which is good if you don't want to walk back to your dorm alone.

I will have my car at school this year and I will be a sophomore. It's good because all grades can park on campus, but it's usually packed with cars. My friends with cars last year had a hard time parking near classes and usually took the shuttle.

There are many apartments next to campus that you can choose from, however, not all of them are in top condition or reasonably priced. Just do your research and make sure you talk to fellow students to make sure you find the right place. The university offers brochures and other services to help as well.

We do not have a football team and instead basketball is the main sport, but they are not that good. However, our men's diving team is good, our baseball is pretty good and I hear our ultimate Frisbee team is really good as well.

I permit costs are awful and if you don't have a ermit you have to pay a meter. But they do provide buses.

The only reason I have B is because I took online classes and I am no good at online classes. So its my fault no the facilities

There are many athletics at UNCW. The majority are not that great but there is still support for them. We do not have a football team so that sort of sticks as well. Many people still paint up and chant during events. There is also a large amount of club and intramural sports as well.
College Junior 2013-06-07T02:56:23Z
There are many different options at UNCW. There are two different dining halls but there are slightly expensive without a meal plan. If your friends have extra swipes they can swipe you in so that is easy and convenient. We have a very nice food court that offers a big variety and are moderately priced. Everything is always clean and stocked well. If you have food dollars you don't pay taxes. They are all great gathering places.

In the two years that I have been at UNCW I have never had a problem with the wireless network and it works extremely fast, better than my personal one. The network for the computers are always working fast and efficiently as well. The computers happen to break frequently, but we have a great technology assistance team that resolves the problems in a timely manner and if you ever need them for personal technology issues. There are also laptops available to check out for four hours at a time but they are not the best. There are many printing stations around campus with various printing options for reasonable prices. I like the convenience of sending print jobs to your student card and being able to print at any location. You can even do this from home on your home computer and then print when you get to campus.

I have never lived on campus but judging from what I have seen and my friends I believe the experience all depends. There are some dormitories that are extremely small that you have to share a bathroom with a lot of people and there are some dorms that are much nicer. Also the on campus apartments are very nice but slightly overpriced. The convenience of living on campus is very nice though. The housing process can be a bit stressful but so can everything else at a university. Living on campus helps you meet a large number of people very quickly but doesn't necessarily mean that you have the most friends.

In my opinion there are many different races and religions at UNCW but the majority of people are white. There are hundreds of international students from all over the globe studying there as well. My university is also one of the top ranked for sending students abroad as well. I have friends from a large variety of backgrounds and have studied in Chile twice. I like to think that my university is pretty diverse.

Wilmington is beach school, and of course you can't beat the relaxing atmosphere of sand, waves, and the some of friendliest people you'll ever meet

Well, when their are hurricanes the entire school shuts down it it's pretty awesome that everyone is experiencing the same wild phenomenon. Also, I may be guilty of going to a hurrikegger

the greek life is quite dumb, I am greek in ethnicity, they give me a bad name, you feel me

there is of course the usual variety of off campus dining. However, coming from the north originally, the fact that I can eat at waffle house till 4 am is honestly just amazing in my book

Although UNCW has some fantastic sports teams (our swim team has won the CAA for 12 years in a row, baseball won the CAA last year, and our club surfing and ultimate firsbee teams have done great at national competitions), one thing this school does lack is school spirit. The university spends most of its time in sports tring to promote the basketball team, but hardly anyone goes to games at Trask. Last year, we lost to the team that had the longest losing record in history.
But our varsity sports deserve more credit than they get. Not to say that there aren't enthusiastic fans- there most definitely are. But the lack of a football program has a profound impact on the campus- that being, education, involvement in arts and scienes, and community services gain much more attention than any varsity sport.

UNCW's campus life is second to none. With a movie theater on campus (Lumina Theater), a newly rennovated recreation center with indoor and outdoor pools, annual oozeball games, a thriving Quidditch team, a food court with some delicious options for any meal of the day, and essentially everything you could want, there is really never any need to leave campus for entertainment, food, or recreation.
College Junior 2013-05-31T06:44:07Z
Greek life does not play a dominant role at UNCW, but it is certainly there for anyone who wants it. A minority of students at the Dub are in fraternities or sororities and they try to proudly keep it that way, although many students use connections with Greeks for parties. There are some prestigious honors Greek socieities too though, so it goes many ways.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
