Most Popular Sports
Baseball, track and field, soccer, and basketball are the most popular sports on campus.
Most Overlooked Teams
Softball and cross country are overlooked. Both are strong teams and sports, but don't receive a lot of student attention or, at times, recognition because of the success of other sports. The men's and women's ultimate Frisbee teams are also really good, but games don't receive too much student attendance.
School Spirit
Seahawk students definitely show their teal! However, school spirit in regards to sports is lower than at other universities which may have a football team or more students. For soccer games, TEALgates are hosted with food and giveaways. As the basketball season kicks off, students paint their bodies teal for Midnite Madness.
Getting Tickets
It's extremely easy to get tickets to UNCW athletic events. Basketball tickets can be picked up ahead of time from the Information Center desk in the Fisher Student Center, free for students. Most of the other sports events just require a student to show their student ID card upon entry. For non-students, tickets are not too expensive, and there's not very much competition for tickets.
Best Place to Take a Walk
The Cross City Trail goes through the Wilmington area, from the beach to the heart of downtown. There are a lot of really nice parks in the area, such as Hugh MacRae and Greenfield parks, a lot of golf courses, and a few nice community centers with outdoor activity space, too.
