UNCW is about 2 hours driving from the nearest city in any direction. It is almost necessary to own a car. Traffic in Wilmington is some of the worst I have seen in any city in my life. Taxis are popular, but they are overpriced. There is supposedly bus transportation around town, but it is incredibly difficult to manage and really hard to find your way around the bus system. Also, permits for on campus parking are very expensive, but that's to be expected. I would not recommend parking in the parking deck, as it is overpriced and inconvenient.
