some argue that it's not that active on campus, but i personally think that without a football team/heavy sports its pretty noticeable around campus since there's really nothing else. you don't have to be in greek life to have a social life and people in greek life aren't exclusive or anything. everyone is friendly and welcoming for the most part, regardless of greek standing.

Greek life is a valuable asset to UNCW's campus, but it's not a dominating one. These are great groups to take advantage of if it's fitting for a student, and about 12 percent of campus is involved with Greek organizations. The Greeks definitely have a well-established presence on campus without being too overbearing. Greek life is not necessary for students to join if it's not their thing, but it promotes leadership and service for those who participate. For a lot of Greek life participants, being a part of a sorority or fraternity is just one organization or form of involvement they dedicate their time to.

Housing for Greeks is lacking on campus. Most of the sororities have their own designated suite in the University Suites on campus, and a few of the University Apartments belong to some of the fraternities, but besides that, there are no other on-campus locations. Fraternity brothers may get a house together off campus, and a lot of participants live with people outside of Greek life. Balance is a key aspect and a noticeable factor of UNCW Greek life. As to how the campus community views Greeks, it really just depends on what time of year it is. When it is rush time at the beginning of the school year and Greek Week in the spring, Greek presence can be a little bit more overwhelming on campus. For the most part, though, the Greeks are viewed as another vital part of UNCW involvement and campus activity.
