Similar to the variety of options for on-campus living, options for off-campus apartments, townhouses, and homes are plentiful and readily available. About 40 percent of students live on campus each year, and while it's definitely important for students to live on campus during their freshman year, after that, it's really all about what the student wants. Staying on campus is very possible, but moving off is an experience sophomores, juniors, and seniors may prefer. The size, amenities, and location for a lot of apartments and townhouses are worth moving off campus for if that's a decision a student wants to make.

The amount of off-campus living within a mile and a half of campus is large in number. Prices are more reasonable off campus than on campus, and convenience doesn't necessarily have to be compromised. It's not difficult to find houses or apartments farther away from campus, either, such as in the areas of downtown Wilmington or at the beach. Finding a house can be a more stressful process, though, and takes more time to finalize. A lot of off-campus locations have pools and gym access.
