Alcohol is fairly visible especially in fraternities, but if you are a guy, don't even try to get in. Greek life holds most of the parties and controls most of the social scene. The students who don't go Greek end up sitting in their dorms for dorm parties or walking distances to "off campus" parties. Many underage students have fake ids to go to bars.

There is a large variety of of-campus housing, including houses and apartments. New apartments are also being built. Rent can be expensive, but it is also easy to find cheap places. I have never had trouble with my landlord and parking is included for me.

Personally I don't like it even though I'm from Durham. I really like cold weather. However, the weather is average

I don't know how to rate this. There are strict policies for things like alcohol and drug use. However, it isn't enforced too strictly unless it's out in the public. I know a lot of people who drink and do drugs in their rooms but are never caught because it really isn't sought out for unless noticed.

I think the food is pretty good and there is a large selection to choose from. There are always healthy options and a few unhealthy options like pizza or hamburgers. But all of us need a hamburger every once in a while. We have days where less meat is used, and foods that come from sustainable farms are used often.

I've received a good amount of financial aid but it's been difficult and a tiresome process. I've had a hard time keeping up with all the forms and the different deadlines. I find i helpful going in and speaking with people who know the ins and and outs of everything.

Housing is great and there are tons of options to choose from! South campus is where most first-tears live. It's a 15 min walk to campus but the dorms are larger and newer and the exercise is good for you! North campus has the historic dorms which are smaller but closer to class, mostly upperclassmen live here. The RHA (residence hall association) is a group of student leaders that works to make campus life fun and enjoyable and they do a really great job!

Because UNC has such different tuition for out of state vs in state students it's almost impossible for in state students to receive scholarships. However UNC does have a very good ROTC program and I know several in state students who've paid for school that way.

UNC has amazing facilities that allow students to pursue any and all interests they have. They offer a diverse course load and tons of leadership opportunities. First-years are able to get involved in research and I know many who have started their own clubs!

Busing at UNC is pretty good. There are lots of routes running on time during the week and the P2P runs from 7:30 to 3am every night. Going places on Sunday is a bit of a challenge and often the P2P is overcrowded.

Lots of foreign exchange students, transfer students, and in/out of state students.

It's expensive and hard to find spots on campus. Parking tickets are 30$

There isn't a ton of diversity in things you can walk to,but there are a ton of restaurants nearby

It is pretty bad, especially on football or basketball game days.

The academics are the best around, and there is a great environment for studying.
College Sophomore 2013-02-11T22:54:40Z
There are a great deal of drugs and alcohol around campus, more so alcohol than anything else.

The workload is tough, but students rise to the challenge, and they take their academics very seriously.

It's pretty good! Sometimes, the menu isn't great, but otherwise, it's pretty tasty!

First of all, it is a must to fill out the annual FAFSA and CSS Profile. The aid that I received was in the form of loans only, no grants. I guess that is better than nothing, but grants, which do not need to be paid back, would have been better. If you get any outside scholarships, you need to track them carefully to make sure that they are being posted properly.

Guys & Girls:
There is always something to do and people to meet at UNC Chapel Hill. Activities range from sporting events, theater and music performances, special guest speakers, religious groups and much more. If you have a particular like, you will find others with the same interests. Attire on campus is flexible. Many were the traditional UNC gear, but clothing ranges from casual to a little bit out there. Everyone is very accepting so there is no need to be concerned about how you look, how you dress, or what you like to do. There will always be someone to hang with.
College Sophomore 2013-02-08T23:13:18Z
Public transportation is great, There are many bus routes which are easily learned. Also, the city of Chapel Hill lists all the routes with maps on their website. There are routes that get you around campus and routes that can take you to the various area malls. There is also a point to point shuttle that functions after bus service has stopped.

Being in the south, the weather is always pretty mild. Summer is amazing and the winters don't get too cold, but it snows enough days to still make it okay.

Varsity athletics are a huge part of UNC, and we're a huge basketball school. We usually have a pretty good team and everyone's into it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
