There is no place better to go to watch an awesome sports team and be united with thousands of people who love Carolina just as much! Chapel Hill has many different places to eat for anyone. There's Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Pizza, anything you want, all on one street.

There's definitely a good mix of people here. I feel all races are represented on this campus and no one should feel excluded or uncomfortable because of their race and not fitting in.

Guys & Girls:
So I'm from NY, and coming down here, I was told I'd experience some Southern hospitality...and that was !00% right. The guys here are (for the most part) very courteous and polite and always hold the door for you. Both the girls and guys are athletic and into looking good. People take pride in their appearances. The accent isn't hard to get used to but if you're not from here it'll take a little while to get used to.

There are definitely a lot of things to do around campus, but sometimes I wish the town was a little bit larger. Franklin Street is great for food and shopping, but after a while it gets old. However, we do have the benefit of two large schools being so close (NC State and Duke) and events involving either of those schools makes the atmosphere here much more exciting.

PC/Macs are all up-to-date in labs/libraries. Wireless connection speed is decent. You don't necessarily need a personal computer but it certainly is more convenient.

Varsity sports are huge here, especially basketball. There are great facilities, and even the club sports are very competitive. Plus, there are tons of intramurals (that include EVERYTHING, not kidding, we even have a quidditch team) that anyone can partake in. The student section, Carolina Fever, also rewards students for going to sporting events, so those tend to be crazy and SO much fun.

I've only been to a couple of frats, and they have been fun. you HAVE to know somebody to get in though if you are a guy, hence the lower grade.

Guys & Girls:
Girls are very, very attractive. They can be snobby at times, but that is not the majority.

Health & Safety:
I feel generally safe, although Franklin can be sketchy at times

UNC is one of the most open and progressive campuses I've ever seen, even for college. There are tons of social action groups, and the old YMCA building has been converted into a center for social justice with tons of project committees. Any kind of ethnic, sexist, homophobic, or any other slurs will almost definitely get you dirty looks if not worse. The only intolerance on campus is against intolerance.

Parking is a nightmare, so I wouldn't recommend relying on a car (which freshmen can't have anyways). Bus line is pretty good. The U and RU are the main ones that circle campus, plus a few others to and from apartments and around town. Word to the wise, though, buses WILL blow past you if they're full or behind schedule. Not a great situation when you're relying on the U to get you to north campus in time for your 8am class. The P2P is a bus that runs nights to safely transport students from parties, and it is GOD. Sketchy and gross sometimes, but always reliable.

Not the greatest. You can usually find at least one thing, but quality definitely not assured. Plus the dining halls get insanely busy around peak lunch & dinner hours.

UNC definitely takes care of its in-state students, so if you are an in-state applicant, don't even worry. I transferred from another university and I was very surprised that UNC didn't give me work study because I received work study at my previous institution.

I know a lot of people who do drugs on campus, but I think alcohol dominates drug usage. Drugs seem more like a every once in a while thing here.

All of the Greeks I've met are so rude and arrogant. I feel like Greek parties are pretty much the only parties on campus. Other organizations on campus don't throw parties, at least, not that I'm aware of.

It is a wonderful school, but some facilities are old.
College Sophomore 2012-11-27T18:57:34Z
Some building could use renovation or restored heating, but the beauty of the campus cancels out any major quandries.

It is very hard and what happens if I do not get into the Business School?
College Sophomore 2012-11-27T06:48:39Z
Some very good teachers, but at a school like UNC, it should be all!
College Sophomore 2012-11-27T06:47:40Z
There is a high usage of drugs and alcohol on campus. However, there is not a lot of peer pressure to try it.

Basically any bachelor degree there isn't a process you just take the classes. But for some schools like the business school you apply your sophomore year and standards are really tough. You need to have like a 3.6 gpa. GPA and extra curricular activities are the most important factor for admissions. Tips for admission would include just work hard in your classes, and if you apply to the business school or another school like it dress well for your interview.

If you want to party in Chapel Hill, you can always find a place. The most popular nights are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Any other night will be pretty dead. Frat parties are popular mostly among freshmen, and everyone else goes to bars.
College Junior 2012-11-25T03:59:39Z
The academics at UNC are unparalleled. The professors are great, all passionate about the classes they teach. Class sizes vary, but professors always have office hours you can attend. The coolest thing about UNC is the specific nature of the classes--they're not general and boring. School may be tough, but it's worth it.
College Junior 2012-11-25T03:56:28Z
Dining hall food isn't so bad. There are two dining halls on campus, and both have a variety of options. There's always a salad bar and a vegetarian line, and the dessert line is the best! Unfortunately, the unhealthy food is exponentially better than the healthy food, but it is easy to eat a variety of foods that can keep you running. Weekend brunch at Rams is the best meal of the week!

The process for getting into most majors is pretty easy--I just declared my double major in Comm and History, and that was that. I found it pretty easy to find classes for these majors, mostly because they're pretty open and laissez-faire as long as you get the requirements.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
