Some very good teachers, but at a school like UNC, it should be all!

There is a high usage of drugs and alcohol on campus. However, there is not a lot of peer pressure to try it.

Basically any bachelor degree there isn't a process you just take the classes. But for some schools like the business school you apply your sophomore year and standards are really tough. You need to have like a 3.6 gpa. GPA and extra curricular activities are the most important factor for admissions. Tips for admission would include just work hard in your classes, and if you apply to the business school or another school like it dress well for your interview.

If you want to party in Chapel Hill, you can always find a place. The most popular nights are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Any other night will be pretty dead. Frat parties are popular mostly among freshmen, and everyone else goes to bars.

The academics at UNC are unparalleled. The professors are great, all passionate about the classes they teach. Class sizes vary, but professors always have office hours you can attend. The coolest thing about UNC is the specific nature of the classes--they're not general and boring. School may be tough, but it's worth it.

Dining hall food isn't so bad. There are two dining halls on campus, and both have a variety of options. There's always a salad bar and a vegetarian line, and the dessert line is the best! Unfortunately, the unhealthy food is exponentially better than the healthy food, but it is easy to eat a variety of foods that can keep you running. Weekend brunch at Rams is the best meal of the week!

The process for getting into most majors is pretty easy--I just declared my double major in Comm and History, and that was that. I found it pretty easy to find classes for these majors, mostly because they're pretty open and laissez-faire as long as you get the requirements.

I currently don't have a meal plan but I had one last year. I enjoyed the two main dining halls on campus, Lenoir and Ram's Head. They had plenty of options, including vegetarian and vegan fair. I really liked eating at the other dining options on campus, like Subway, Wendy's, Chick-fil-A, and Alpine Bagels.

UNC has a ton of computer resources. I frequent two libraries, the Undergraduate Library and Davis Library. Both libraries have extensive computer banks. During exams, it may be hard to find an open computer, but usually there are more than enough available. Most, if not all, students have a laptop, so students often choose to use WiFi.

On campus transportation and that into the immediate Chapel Hill community is great! UNC has a free bus service with dozens of routes that runs from 7 to 7. If where you're going isn't serviced by a UNC bus, you can pay $2 for a Triangle Transit bus to take you more into Raleigh or Durham. There is a late night bus called the P2P that runs a loop around campus until 3 am. Also the airport is 20 minutes away so getting home is easy as well!

The drug scene at UNC isn't huge. Because I am familiar with the Greek System, I've heard of a few people doing hard drugs. Mainly, students here choose drinking over anything else.

Most of the time our weather is great, but sometimes it's not so great. We get a lot of rain in the fall which means you need a rain jacket. The rain is a pain, however, because a lot of times you walk a long way to class. It is also a pain to walk to class when it's really hot because you get to class gross and sweaty. Most of the time it feels good walking to class because it's nice and cool outside.

I am personally in a sorority and I love it. The only bad thing is the way non-Greeks view Greek Life. They can be condescending and they think it is frivolous.

I think that the meal plans are expensive, especially when I normally just eat a salad whenever I go to the dining hall. Also, the food isn't of the best quality and there's not much diversity in what is served on a day to day basis.

The sky is one of my favorite things to look at. It does rain a lot though.

Guys & Girls:
There are mainly three types of boys but you can find one you like from those. The girls are pretty and smart, duh.

I feel as everyone is accepted at UNC. Diversity is actually welcome and students look up to the students who have stories to tell!

The housing process is very simple. The dorms are nice for their age. My only complaint is the condition of the bathrooms in the suite style dorms.
College Sophomore 2012-11-20T04:06:31Z
I guess it's good. I can walk to most places and get the bus for the malls/shopping areas. Sports/recreation is great and cultural activities are open to all students and the community.

Computer labs are OK. Everyone typically has a computer and then need to go somewhere to print if they don't have their own printer.

Varsity sports at UNC are HUGE having won multiple NCAA championships through the years.

Great food, - it's buffet like style, with variety of foods daily.

There are tons of bus routes to go all over the Chapel Hill/Carborro area. There is another bus system called Triangle Transit that takes you all over the triangle. From 7pm to 3am there's the p2p that takes you from the dorms to Franklin if you don't want to walk late at night. They also have vans to pick you up if you need one.

It always seems like the Carolina Blue sky is nice and bright above the campus. We're far enough down south that the weather is warm, but not so far south that you don't get all the seasons. The fall is especially pretty with all the reds and yellows from all the trees. Of course there are rainy days, but it's not too much. When it's really cold it sucks to walk all over campus, but for some people the 40's aren't too bad.
College Sophomore 2012-11-17T22:53:39Z
There are tons of options on Franklin Street. There are lots of sit down places as well as bars. There are also places open really late when your out on the weekends. Some are as late as 3am and Time-Out is open 24 hours. Bskis is a really good place to get wraps and Banditios is really cheap and awesome Mexican food. There are a lot of options and once you get on Franklin and you can keep walking toward Carborro. The options seem endless!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
