TONS of options on Franklin Street and, if you are willing to venture to Carrboro, there are pleenty more unique options.

Parking can be a bit difficult at times. If you are willing to pay hourly for the ramps you will be in good shape. Permits are available and probably the best choice.

Public transportation is really good and its free. Buses run all the time. You just have to make sure you get on the right one to where you want to go and the right one to take you back to your dorm. It's easy!

When you're a freshman living in the (possibly) un-airconditioned high-rise dorms on south campus, you may hate NC weather, but it's beautiful to see the seasons change on campus because of all the trees. UNC is what people picture in their minds when they picture the perfect "college", with a big grassy quad and tree-lined pathways. Winter isn't too fierce, with maybe 2-3 snow days.

There are tons of parties Thursday - Saturday night on and around campus, plus the club scene on Franklin Street has a few 18+ options. Concerts are another good option with lots of great shows at Cat's Cradle nearby in Carrboro. Public transportation around Chapel Hill is great - Carrboro is a little further but not bad at all.

In general, most buildings are renovated/new. Great access to new gyms, dining halls, soccer fields, etc. Some of the dorms on South Campus may be a little old (no air conditioning) but I think they have recently been renovated.

I was very happy with my major at UNC. Classes were relatively small (except for intro courses like Econ 101), and professors were mostly very good. The only issues I had were that sometimes classes were taught by grad students that were not as informative or insightful as actual professors.

A Little Biased – There's mostly white students who are well-off, but there are also a few from other countries and walks of life. I don't believe that is the school's doing, Chapel Hill simply attracts certain people. As for political beliefs it's fairly spread but there are probably more liberals than anything else.

Narrow Field – Many school scholarships support a narrow group of students.

Dont Apply – i tend to not eat off campus. I cook for myself mostly.

LARGE VARIETY – Larger variety, because it is a big town. however, the neighborhoods dont appear as safe as i would like.

Very Good Food at the Agora – I live in Granville Towers so I eat at the Agora. The food there is very good compared to most campus foods. They always are making something different, the staff is friendly, and the pasta is excellent.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe – The security keeps people from being too dangerous and they just want everyone to be safe. You never feel in danger at UNC

Guys & Girls:
The girls are all very attractive at UNC and they all must be smart too

North Campus Dorms Are the Best – Unfortunately most freshman dorms are on south campus and farthest from classes. However they are sweet style so you are only sharing a bathroom with about 7 people instead of 22 like on 1 hall. As you get older, try to move to north campus. Especially Cobb.

Sports Are Big – Anytime you go to a division 1 school sports are going to be huge. The good thing about UNC is we are actually good at them. However we dont get an A+ due to the recent academic fraud committed by the football team recently. However, most games of any sport are pretty packed and there is a club here, Carolina Fever, who's members sole job is to go to games!

Campus police are pretty good about letting certain things slide and mostly its the loving facilities that deal with it and not even involve the police which is nice. They dont call your parents you are just put on probation. The most strict thing on campus is the honor system. I understand that its necessary but its really extreme here.

Its Awesomely Hard Here – Here at UNC your experience is what you make it. There are so many opportunities. I got involved in sports and I love it. However, it is a rough courseload. You really have to study. Going out everynight is just not an option. Professors expect a lot but it makes you a better student! It also doesnt hurt that we have the most beautiful campus in NC.
College Junior 2012-08-29T16:29:29Z
Apartments Aren't Great – The apartments are priced reasonably, but many are far enough from campus to need a car to get to class. Additionally, they are kind of run-down closer to campus.
College Junior 2012-08-29T16:28:26Z
Tasty but Expensive – I find that the food is of good quality. UNC also makes sure to buy from local farmers, so the food is fresh and in season. However, I dropped my meal plan this year because the costs were ridiculous! Almost 10 dollars for a lunch and over 10 for dinner. I can go to Subway for less.

The weather here is just normal for North Carolina.

Guys & Girls:
Pretty Good – Everyone tends to look pretty good around campus. There are two gyms, you do a lot of walking, everyone gets plenty of vitamin D, and people know how to dress well.

It's never cold if you know what cold actually is. It snowed once last year. The sun shined at least once a day. Just watch out for flash downpours that will last for about ten minutes before the sun comes back out.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
