One of the finest things about Carolina is its athletics department.  UNC is home to the best of the NCAA teams in almost every division, and the pride that comes with Tar Heel Nation is insurmountable. UNC's celebrated basketball program has won five NCAA championships and recruits the best players every year, so much that even the President picks the Tar Heels for his bracket. The football, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse programs are just a few of the most competitive and successful sports on campus.

For those that might not be quite at the varsity level, UNC offers a wide array of club and intramural sport opportunities ranging from rugby to ultimate Frisbee. Students must try out to be chosen for a club team, but anyone can play intramural sports. Both options offer competitions on and off campus and garner strong support from the students. Overall, UNC has one of the nation's top programs for athletics and a huge student following and fan base.
