Athletics at UNC are great. You always hear how each team works hard to achieve a win or a national championship. There is great school spirit as well. Even when a team is not doing so well, the fans stay true to there team. Students always wear their Carolina blue to sporting events or just to class, which shows how much they really love their school. Although the sports teams are all recognized in a respectable and noticeable manner, I do believe the dance team should be recognized as an athletic team as well because they work just as hard as any other team. They get hurt and do not have personal trainers and they also compete but the school does not sponsor them in any way. They sponsor the cheerleaders but they do not no even compete. They stay later after exams in the fall to practice for competitions and the school still will not provide them with a dance studio or reasonable practice area. I feel the school should recognize the dance team more because they too are a great aspect to basketball and football games and the fans also enjoy and respect what they do.
