Diversity is one of the cornerstones of UNC's campus, and it is a great place to meet many different people. From learning how to step at a P2P stop by a peer to having a Russian professor in class, the University is filled with opportunities to meet people of different ethnicities and nationalities and, more importantly, to learn from them. One of the best parts about the campus culture is how liberal it is and how accepting students are of others. A great part of campus life is the festival Masala in which many cultural clubs come together and put on a show to express the individuality of each culture. It is through shows and clubs like these that students who might not have been exposed to this sort of diversity come to appreciate the many different people that reside in our a multi-faceted world.
UNC is also actively involved in furthering diversity by featuring speakers and documentaries about different places and people. Carolina is not a school typical of the South. It is, in fact, one of the mose ethnically diverse campuses across the nation. Although it still has a long way to go in terms of actual numbers, it is getting there.
