Carolina's facilities are unparalleled whether you are talking about the gyms and green areas or those of the more studious variety like the libraries. In line with the rigor of student academics is the emphasis UNC places on maintaining top--of-the-line facilities for students to use. Students have access to libraries that boast thousands of books on every subject, and if a certain book isn't availalble, it can be requested. Students also have access to group study areas to enable a more collaborative learning atmosphere. The gyms on campus are stocked with the best and newest equipment to keep that Freshman 15 far away. There are indoor and outdoor Olympic-size swimming pools for those hot summer days and many basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts all across campus.

There are also theatre and entertainment facilities, such as Playmakers, where students can hold and watch shows. Campus Y is also an integral part of campus life, and it helps to promote many projects that make use of the school's abundant facilities and is a great way for students to get involved. There are also great green areas for students to bask in the beautiful weather, participate in a game of ultimate Frisbee, or just hang out with friends. The campus is kept in pristine condition thanks to respectful students and the emphasis kept by administrators.
