Social Scene
It is quite easy to meet people at UNC. It is up to you to interact with all the people that will be placed around you though. Granted, because UNC's gender ratio is tipped disproportionately to the women, it is slightly easier for men to date and interact with women. However, because there are so many schools in the area, ladies have a prime selection to choose from as well.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are many students who are in relationships-either with another UNC student or with a student from another college in the area (NC State, Duke, Wake Forest, etc.). At a school with 28,000 students including the professional schools, there is definitely a chance to meet someone for a relationship, a hookup, or whatever you might be interested in. Good places to meet people are definitely bars, clubs, and frat parties, but sometimes those late-night study sessions can lead to a romance, too.
Dress Code
Carolina features a wardrobe as diverse as the student body. Students wear what they please and aren't judged for that. Fashion is definitely a means of self expression, but it doesn't take on a "hoity-toity" feel. All that being said, Chapel Hill students do clean up quite nice.
