Chapel Hill is a beautiful town with everything a college student might want. There are many historical sites, fun activities, shopping, bookstores, parks, and local hangouts. The main drag for is Franklin Street, and it hosts the bustle of the weekend activities. There are things like swing and salsa dancing into the early hours, games playing at bars, and many opportunities to interact with other students studying in the nearby area at Duke or NC State. There is a free bus that transports students between Duke and UNC, so it is relatively easy for students to attend activities thrown at both universities.
For those that aren't as interested in catching a sporting game or attending a party, there are movies, local music bars, and a lot of shopping nearby. The Streets at Southpint is one of the largest outdoor malls on the East Coast, with a great theatre for movie buffs. Chapel Hill has also been ranked as the third best place to live on the East Coast and also been dubbed the "Ideal College Town." With a town that has so much to offer and a university that sponsors so many events, it's hard to have any free time. Chapel Hill is just a beautiful, quaint, and lively town all bundled together in a package, and that makes the Carolina experience what it is.
