Lovely and Pleasant

The fall and spring mark the beginning and ending of the school year. They also happen to be the most beautiful times on UNC's scenic campus. My friends and I have argued what campus is the most aesthetically pleasing, and biases aside, UNC has to be considered as a candidate, and the weather plays a large part in it. UNC's location in the southeast offers mild winters, and the falls and springs are utterly perfect, to the extent that it compels you to be outside.

Tar Heels!

Sports at UNC are pretty big. We have one of the top overall athletic programs in the country and there is a ton of school spirit

Awesome Classes

Carolina has a lot of different courses that students can take. The curriculum is very rigorous but if you are willing to work hard you'll do well

Availability

Unless you live in Granville Towers you are not getting a parking spot.

Girls

The girls are generally very pretty. It is really easy to find all types of girls: hippie, sorority, nerds, etc.

Classes

Courses are tough with difficult grading, but you will actually learn the information. Most professors are willing to help during office hours.

Alcohol Is King

It's hard to find someone at UNC who doesn't drink. Other drugs can be found pretty easily given enough time and patience.

The Safest

To this date I have never felt unsafe on and around UNC's campus. I've walked throughout Carrboro and Chapel Hill at all hours imaginable, and have not once felt uncomfortable. Bike theft happens often though, so make sure to buy a good lock.

The Honor System

The campus has recently put together a task to reevaluate our honor system to figure out how to improve it. While some students complain that our system is too strict or unfair because traditional sanctions for a first time offense, if found guilty, is a semester's suspension, UNC is actively trying to improve the Honor Code and how the system is run to better benefit both students and faculty. The university cares.

Housing Amenities

it's not really convenient to cook on campus if you choose not to have a meal plan. often times the kitchen is several floors below or above you and there isn't elevator access if you are carrying hot kitchen ware and enhancements, printing and laundry facilities are not always accessible in the dorm that you live in.

Pretty Bad

I hear it sucks but I don't know from first hand experience.

Process Could Be Easier

I received an adequate amount of financial aid that really helped my parents and myself out since I have another sibling in college as well. The process of applying for aid was very tedious and confusing though. Several modifications had to be made to my application before it would be accepted. If the process was more straight forward it would safe everyone time and stress.

Diversity

I feel like everyone gets along at UNC for the most part. Classes encourage open and honest discussion of social and political topics. People belonging to certain group may not care for members of other groups in certain cases but UNC is a place where difference are accepted. UNC is extremely diverse; I would say the most diverse of all public NC colleges.

Libraries

The libraries at UNC are definitely central to student life. There are plenty of computers and printing servers available at the UL and Davis Library. The UL is nicely appointed and is a very comfortable place. Davis library is where many student prefer to study (as do I). The facilities at Davis are nice but the place is a little unkempt. Group study rooms could use new carpet and more comfortable chairs.

Weather Is Nice

The weather in North Carolina is pretty nice. It is pretty easy to get a tan and the weather never really interferes with activities.

Parking

Really competitive on campus parking, and the cost is pretty high.

Not Too Strict

The strictness at UNC is pretty good. Students get leniency and a chance to correct their errors.

Off Campus Dining Options

There are so many places to go off campus to eat! Franklin Street has so many options, ranging from really nice dining restaurants to quick grab-and-go places too. There are lots of different types of food, you have so much to choose from. Carborro also has lots of dining options too

It's alright but you definitely get sick of seeing pretty much the same options over and over again.

Overall Food

The variety of food places to eat on campus is wonderful because of Franklin Street. However, the dining halls are not the best...

Good Computers

The computers on campus are of good quality. There is definitely a need for your own computer/laptop. My only complaint is the Network Access Control agent can sometimes freak out and make browsing the web difficult.

Crazy

It's a big deal though you'll find some people who don't keep up with it all that much.

Great

Lots of resources for LGBTQ folk. All classes and ethnicity present.
