Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Chapel Hill Transit is a free and easy way to get around town, and many students take advantage of it. The Campus U and Reverse U Bus are convenient for students to get around campus and Franklin Street. All city buses come through campus to take students to Rosemary Street, Franklin Street, Carrboro, and even stop at apartment complexes that are close to campus. All public transportation is free. If students need to go outside of the city bus route, there are several taxi companies available. The Robertson Scholars Program has a bus that travels between Duke and UNC for free and is available to all students. The Triangle Transit Authority takes students from campus to shopping centers, the airport, and other places in the area for a cheap price.

Students at UNC definitely appreciate the fact that public transportation in the area is free. However, most take for granted how safe and reliable public transportation really is in the Chapel Hill/Durham area. Although having a car is convenient, it is definitely not an absolute must at UNC. Just hop on the party bus and join the fun!

Helpful

I really appreciate the public transportation that gets me anywhere I need to go around or outside of campus. It is very helpful since my car is too far away to get every day.

Excellent

The buses are excellent for college students. The campus is quite large and buses are needed for students to arrive at their destinations safely, especially those who live farther from campus. It would be nice if there were more buses that would go through out the city of Chapel Hill on a more regular basis. The P2P is by far the best idea for students and I think it helps students to be safe when they go out. It's certainly unique as far as the university system goes. Excellent idea.
