The diversity is great on campus. There are very many different religions and cultures. Some are to their selves some what. The Black Student Union is a group only for African American students and they are like a clique. I feel like everyone has their own clique here.

I'm not a clubber at all. The house parties always get shut down
College Sophomore 2013-04-21T20:09:31Z
The prices of parking permits are ridiculous!!!! UNCC is by far the strictest school when it comes to parking. They will give you a ticket for anything even if you have a permit. The prices are like $425 for the entire year, outrageous just to park and there aren't even many places to park close to the residence halls.

I never really see or hear about any of the Greeks engaging in anything helpful throughout the community, I hear about their parties though!

I am excited about being in the counseling program because of the values that the program promotes. I enjoy the flexibility of being a part-time or full-time student. I also highly benefit from the certificates that the counseling program offers, such as a certificate in play therapy and/or substance abuse. Many counseling programs do not provide these opportunities; I believe these aspects make the counseling program at UNCC stand out.

I am very happy with my program. My professors are highly trained, reliable, and experts in their field. My degree fits well with my career goals of being a counselor. I am confident that I will find a job in my field upon graduation due to the skills I have and will acquire and the excellent reputation of my program.

The most important criteria for admission is being a well-rounded student who is open to multicultural groups. Our programs highly value students who care about their community.
The application process was not difficult as long as you apply on time.

An internship for my program is not paid and requires the student to work 20 hours per week. I plan to have one next year and don't have any concerns finding one. I have 1 year and a half of experience working as a graduate assistant.

Charlotte is a great city with something for any interest. There are tons of local attractions, from museums and restaurants to bigger attractions like the National Whitewater Center and Carowinds. There are a few other universities in the city, and the young population is definitely embraced by the city. The only drawback is that the best things to do in Charlotte require a little driving, since they are not in the immediate vicinity of UNCC.

Health & Safety:
Police and faculty are seen often around campus, and are accessible if needed. There are blue lights that contact police if you feel threatened or are in need of assistance. The dorms are college ID accessed, so, in other words, your college ID only lets you into the dorm building if you live there, and also the dorm rooms are key or pass-card accessible. Living security is high, because they make sure people are not playing any drinking games, and the residents in the dorms are safe and protected. Plus, there's always a night officer in the dorms that walks around the building to make sure everyone is safe. The faculty in charge of security takes safety very seriously. I have never felt unsafe on campus, coming from someone who lives on campus, and the only places on campus I've heard about that can be unsafe are the outskirts of the university by the parking lots and garages. Other than that, I would say UNCC is relatively a safe campus.

There's a lot of restaurants, but they're very expensive so I tend to stick to the Southern chains like Cookout and Salsarita's since I can't get them back home in New York.

There's a lot of activity, but it's well hidden that most people don't get caught.

Health & Safety:
I never felt like anything was being done to enhance safety and security on campus as much as things were being done to increase surveillance much like the rest of Charlotte.

Being in the Anthropology program was a completely different experience from everything else on campus. It seemed to be the only place with a provision of people with open minds, willingness to work with students, and a passion to really help those who were serious about the program. I really have nothing bad to say about the Anth department and their majors, except that I felt a little under challenged at times.
College Senior 2013-04-03T00:01:37Z
I never felt a huge challenge in any of my UNCC courses.

The queen City in general itself is not very liberal. So of course the universities (including UNCC) aren't either...

I am a nursing major and so far I love it. The College of Health and Human Services has all of my advisors in it. I am in classes with many of the other nursing students so it's often easy to form study groups or ask them questions I may be unsure about that pertain to the schoolwork. Anytime an internship opportunity arrives, they post flyers in the building and send us emails about it letting us know how to apply. The workload is heavy, but that's any nursing program at any school.

Everything you need is right here on campus. If there is something you need that you can't find on campus, we have a harris teeter and a target less than 5 minutes away from campus.

Dining on campus is very nice. We have two big cafeterias, one on each side of campus. But if you get tired of eating there, we have Bojangles, Chick-fil-a, a japanese place where you can get rice bowls and sushi, sub shops, papa johns, a hot dog place, salsaritas, pizza places, a bagel shop, starbucks, and a burger grill. There are many meal plans to choose from that give you a certain amount of money for declining balance to spend at restaurants, or meal swipes to spend in the cafeteria. Freshman are required to have a meal plan, but after that it's up to you whether you want a meal plan or not.

A lot of available space for students to enjoy recreation time as well as study time

I enjoy being a chemistry major here there are many outlets to help with success here.

I feel the cost of the permits is a little pricey but I guess it is not as bad as at other universities. My only real complaint would be the availability of spaces. I feel that if I am paying for a permit that I shouldn't have to run around to different lots to try and find a spot, which then makes me late to class.
College Senior 2013-03-24T20:36:53Z
I feel this is a very diverse campus. Going to the Student Union, you can see people playing pool, sitting and chatting, doing homework and more. There is a mix of cultures, levels of schooling, religion and sexual orientation and no one openly criticizes this diversity.
College Junior 2013-03-21T23:03:15Z
They need more study halls with access to computers
College Junior 2013-03-21T23:01:35Z
A lot of different places, whether you feel like eating junk food or being healthy.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
