I was admitted to UNC-Charlotte fall of 2004 and they had a set schedule of the classes, and the order to take them in. I was under the impression that was it and I would be done in 4 years. Well I struggled in my general biology class, and I really struggled in my inorganic chemistry classes and those were the 4 classes, labs included, to even be admitted into the biology program. You will not be able to speak to an biology advisor if you are not in the program. if you are a pre-biology student, you will have to speak to a science advisor and once admitted, you will be assigned to a biology advisor.

I was in the biology program and it was intense. Especially Human Physiology, Microbiology, Immunology, all the upper level courses were intense and a lot of information to process in one semester. The lower level biology courses along with the chemistries, are broad, but they expect you to learn alot because you need those classes to actually be admitted into the biology program and you must have a C or better.

As a Biology major and having two part-time jobs through out college, it was extremely stressful. I wasn't blessed to have money growing out of trees. The only thing I would change is, if I didnt have to work as much, I would of been more focused on my courses and not trying to do everything all at once. They give you a set schedule for you to complete in 4 years, but I would just take what you can, and not to rush. You can't finish college in four years, unless you are financially stable and you have the means to be all in. I'm not saying it can not be accomplished, just you will have to be strict. I would choose this school and major all over again. Word of advice, they never tell you what will happen if you didn't get accepted into a speciality program i.e. medical school, dental school, medical technology. They give you the impression, if you take these classes, and maintain above a "C" average, then you get in. They do not stress to you that there are other people competing to get accepted and that the school is very limited in how many can be accepted. Just be prepared to be opened to other programs in other locations.

The athletics are alright we have a good soccer program but nobody goes to the important games. And the basketball games are not that hyped.

There are a lot of choices and food variety on campus. All of the facilities are kept in great, clean condition. The dining area has a large variety of great and tasty foods. There are also fast food places like Wendy's, Chick-Fil-A, different hot dog stands, and different nationality-based foods.

The pricing is somewhat reasonable for a school this large of a size. It costs roughly $430 for the entire year. Having morning classes is the best way to get a great parking space, closest to the buildings. After 11 am it gets a little hectic. Unless you commute to school, you don't really need a car on campus. The fines there are crucial. If, for example, your car broke down and you had to use another car to get to school, they WILL fine you $60 because the parking pass number did not match the car that it was on.

The work that the fans put into promoting sports here is AMAZING. There are so many people that are very active about the events that are going on. The Intramural sports are very popular at UNCC.

I am a Biology major, but I am switching over to Psychology. The Biology department is helpful to an extent, but it's a lot of unanswered questions. Talking to Psych majors, I have found out that the Psychology department is very helpful and guides you step by step if needed.

If you live on campus, and are caught drinking underage or with alcohol in your room, you will get a campus ticket and possibly a legal ticket depending on what the campus police decide. You also run the risk of losing your housing for a year.

Some of the bathrooms reek of urine but other than that the upkeep is wonderful.

I was born and raised in Charlotte and I love it here! There is such a range of activities and lifestyles.

There are always computers available but they take forever to load and get to a point that you can use them.

I have not personally used it, but I have heard good things from my peers.

transportation is good on campus. there is a bus you can call at any time to pick you up and bring you wherever you need to go on campus. its very helpful if you have to go somewhere by yourself at night.

I like how there are many different restaurants on campus, it brings great variety. Crown Commons has some decent food at times, however the home cooked section never looks appetizing. When I do get it doesn't taste good, the burgers do not really taste that good. On the other hand the pizza, salad bar, and the sandwich station are great.

Off campus housing can be a lot cheaper. There are many apartments very close to school. Rent varies. Cheaper to have a roommate.

Haven't run into any stereotypical stuck up Greeks.

Love North Carolina weather, you get to experience all four seasons.

There are room inspections so it is very unlikely to see drugs on campus.

The campus is diversely rich, there are people of all different background. I applaud the admissions office for doing a terrific job of creating diversity on campus.

Health & Safety:
Crimes are everywhere, but I must say the campus police here at University of North Carolina does a great job at keeping the students secure, and taking quick action against any crime committed on campus.

As an Architecture major I love every bit of what I am doing. I wouldn't change any aspect of the choices I have made up to this point. I have been able to learn a great deal. The job field is also a promising goal on the horizon. I hope to work up to having my own firm and I believe I am being led on the right path to do so.
College Junior 2012-10-29T23:25:01Z
UNCC's School of Architecture is amazing. There are positive characters all around that are willing to help you grow. You spend a great deal of time learning from other students as you work in a environment where you get to know one another pretty well. Work load gets to be a bit strenuous at time but professors are aware of stress level and are willing to help you out in terms of due date. The assignments given allow for growth as a designer, a scholar, and as an individual.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
