You have to be 21 or older to do anything in Charlotte pretty much.

The dining halls aren't the best but they do have a salad bar, cereal, pizza or burgers daily in case it isn't good theres something to eat. On-campus places to eat are great like bojangles, wendys and starbucks. Very conveniently located near classes and no need to go off campus. Maybe cheaper stores like burger king or tace bell would be even better. Also healthy options like a real subway would be good too.

Very good advertising on campus. House parties are hard to know about because it's word of mouth. Clubs downtown are openly advertised welll. University has a shuttle system to the parties, very convenient and safe. Many different ones to choose from.

So many apartments some are expensive in my opinion but there are tons to choose from conveniently located less than 5 miles all around. On- Campus bussing can reach most of them. Overall very convenient and safe, then again it is in Charlotte they can't control everything. Overall Very good minus the price.

The Student Union is less than 3 years old and has several amenities for both on campus students and commuters. There are several place to eat to fulfill all of your cravings. These include Crown Common Dining Hall, 49er Bistro, Wendy's, Einstein Bros Bagels, Outtakes (which includes a sub shop), and Freshens Smoothies. Most Charlotte student hang out here in between classes, and it's a great place to socialize. There are also tons of spaces to study, as well as a game room with a pool table and large screen T.V. where they hold video game tournaments every semester. This place is definitely worth checking out.

There is so much to do on or near campus. The walking / biking trails, guest speakers, movies, restaurants, bars but downtown Charlotte and the neighboring areas offer a lot. Foremost is the Nascar speedway, a NFL and NBA teams, plus UNCC is starting a college football team in 2013. Great restaurants, shopping and historical sites are very abundant.

Generally NC has mild weather. It does not get too cold, and we do not get nearly enough rain. If it does rain, I take the shuttle to class, which passes by every 15 minutes.

It is only my first semester as a transfer student , but I love it. The price is good and the campus is huge but easy to navigate. There is a lot to do at UNCC even for a "older" student like myself they have a adult club.

School shuttles run frequently, and have schedules posted but it would be good if there were more covered shuttle stops. I do not use the public buses but I know the college has two lines that go downtown.
College Sophomore 2012-09-27T19:34:31Z
There are several shuttles always running on campus, and they have a safe ride system which you can call in order to pick you up. a couple shuttles also go out into Charlotte itself.

My experience with financial aid has been nothing short of phenomenal. It was easy to apply as well as receive financial aid. I am always contacted at least a month before school has started on how much money I have received. This gives me time to plan on how I will live on campus from year to year. How much money an individual will obtain depends on how much you or your family earns per year.

Obtaining a parking pass is very expensive as it costs over $400 to receive one. Although getting a parking pass is only half the battle. Each year parking gets worse since more people are starting to attend UNCC. A need for a car on campus depends on where you live. If you live fairly close to campus you wont need a car. The campus has their own buses and shuttles that take you to, around campus, and back home again.

I am currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte in the prekinesology program. In your junior year you get to apply to the exercise science program or athletic training program. There are also many programs within the program such as respiratory therapy. I am applying for the Athletic Training program this year. One thing I like about applying to the Athletic Training program is that you are required to do observation hours on campus with different athletic teams which gives you an incite on the profession. Our program also require internships during your senior year where they place you. Our professors are helpful, understanding and caring so that they can give you the optimal experience and help you find a job after graduation.

Most students receive financial aid pretty quickly, usually the second or third day after class started. However it has been a problem lately with students receiving enough financial aid with the rising cost of fees and tuition that has caused many students to get loans or defer their education.

The campus is strict on alcohol and drug policies but as far as the smoking ban people do not follow it. Attendance policies is based on your professor its your decision whether you go to class or not. As far as parking and issuing tickets it happens quite frequently but there are ways to get around the policies. A lot of students violate the academic integrity policy but if you are caught cheating there are very severe consequences the severest being kicked out the university.

Lee College Mechanical Engineering Curriculum – To gain entry into the Lee College of Engineering, a student has to pass the general education classes of the university, in addition to specially designated sections of chemistry, math, and physics classes to determine competency. I initially tested into pre-Calculus but was able to pass the pre-requisite courses Chem I, Physics I and II and pass Calc level I and II which are required.

Lee College Mechanical Engineering Curriculum – I have attended Charlotte for two years now, and have had no issues with the competency of the professors in the Lee College or their teaching methods and passion towards educating. My only faults in the first two years would be the lack of availability of certain classes in the program due to a shortage of teachers, and that an increase in supplemental instruction sessions for later level courses would be invaluable. I would like to envision a career for myself in the engineering field where I am able to see my work make an impact in the real world. I have given some thought to working in Aerospace, possibly commercializing travel around orbit, working for a company interested in pioneering new frontiers. I believe that my natural aptitudes for design and creative idea generating would be useful in such a career, as well as other options including power generation and sustainable energy. My only concerns regarding finding a job in the field post graduation are firstly, graduating and having the diploma as credentials, and then landing an interview with the company that is the best fit for me. As an engineer, I would be prepared to solve most of the other problems as they present themselves.

Remember the Golden Rule – The campus is a secure campus and as long as you are respectful of campus policies you should be fine. The only thing I would suggest is that you use the computer labs responsibly and not do anything that would be a distraction to your peers.

At UNCC greek life is a mjor part to some. As for me....I have some friends that are in Sororities but I prefer to stay away from most of them. One big issue is the factor of how girls are veiwed if they talk to other girls that are outside of there sorority. I once dated a guy that was in KAppa Alpha so being with him meant that I would meet many greek students....all the sororites wanted me to rush...but I always declined the offer. Once we broke up the girls stopped speaking to me but all of his fraternity brothers still constantly associate with me. I have many of my best guy friends who are in fraternities.

Guys & Girls:
Every Different Flavor – You will find once you step in the campus that there is an above average ratio of girls and guys at UNC Charlotte. Th vast diversity that walks the campus grounds allows everyone to find something that they like. Being located in a large city also a wide screen of fashion, so you will never have a problem with not having something to wear. This is my second year and I have noticed that there were several good looks that came with the new freshman class. Also with having an amazing uptown scene anyone who attends UNCC will not have a problem with meeting new people.

Always Willing to Help – The universities has endless resources to help you succeed in your academics and your life after college. Not only does the resources apply to first time college students like incoming freshmen, but they also have them for transition students, post bachelor students, and first generation college students. The university dedicates whole departments to the success of their students such as the University Center for Academic Excellence. This department offers free workshops on popular and much needed topics like time management, and personal organization. The department also offers free tutoring varying by type, such as one-on-one, group tutoring, or supplemental instruction. The professors also make sure to understand their students and they are willing to work with them during office hours to give them a better understanding if needed. Overall, the university has done and continues to do a great job in offering the right resources for their students to succeed.

The diversity on the campus is vast. Although, there are quite a few of whites, I would say half the student body is. Majority of the teachers I had in my general education courses were diverse as well. Between the students and the teachers, UNC-Charlotte is a diverse atmosphere. The religion aspect, probably not as much. There is one Christian speaker who raids our campus, giving speeches and I have not seen many other religious groups. As for economic backgrounds, there is a diverse amount. From students struggling with loans and financial aid, to ones who do not have worry about a thing.

Same Ol', Same Ol' – The dining options are typical places to eat. There is a lot of fast foods places and your typical chain restaurants, if you wanted a sit down dinner. Sprinkled about are unique places that offer ethnic cuisine, but these are more abundant in Down Town Charlotte, which is a drive.

Needs More Diversity – Diversity in the sense that everything dresses the same.

Much to Do – There is a lot to do in Charlotte. It's all about means of getting there where you find error. UNCC is so self-sufficient which can be good but also be a negative.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
