There's so much to do in Charlotte. Just taking the bus is a new adventure.

UNCC Specific Program – There is not much to do with the specific program. You do mostly general education your freshman year.

UNCC Major – There is not much to do as a freshman in my major everything is general education classes.

The school is great but once you step off campus it kind of seems boring, not much to do but go downtown.

Parking for students living on campus is no problem. There are a large number of spots available near almost all dorms. For commuters its a different story, you are only going to find parking in the good parking decks if you have class before 10 or after 1; if you have class at 11 forget it, you'll have to park in a less convenient lot. But there are always spots available somewhere, it's just a matter of finding them.

There is always something fun going on around campus. Basketball, baseball, and soccer games are typically packed with students. The recreation fields always have students hanging out and playing sports. Outside of campus there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and bars which are always filled with college students. Uptown Charlotte is known for the bars and clubs which is a huge attractions for many students. There are "party buses" that bring students from campus and near by apartment complexes to which ever club is having college night and then bring them home. Queens University, Johnston and Whales, and other small colleges/community colleges are near by. Charlotte Motor Speedway is also a great attraction for many visiting or living in Charlotte.

Paying for Parking! This is one of the only downsides for this school. If you do not have a parking pass, i.e. visitors, you will have to park in the parking garages and pay to park! If you park elsewhere then you risk getting a $40.00 fine.

Student Union Building – The Student Union building on campus is so awesome! It has a variety of stores inside such as Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, a movie theater, their own personal salon, and the Apple Store. It's a great hangout spot for students and a lot of the amenities are free which is always a plus!

I was happy to know that you automatically are enrolled for UNCC's College of Education. My previous school had you take all of your general education classes and then apply for their school of education. You then had to wait to see if you are accepted and sometimes you were not! UNCC is very smart about automatically enrolling.

It's Okay – I love the campus and being apart of UNCC but with a new football team coming soon, prices are going up. In order for the school to pay for the budget of a football team, prices across the board have been raised. It's ridiculous to me because we will not have a team until the year after I graduate so I'm paying for something that means nothing to me.

Guys & Girls:
Girls Everywhere – Even though there are plenty of guys that attend Charlotte it seems like even more girls do. Girls of all different backgrounds and lifestyles can be found on campus, but not many give us guys the time of day.

Great Mix of Races – At the school there are many different races of people present. With such a variety, more multicultural classes and events are held at campus so more students are exposed to different things.

First of all make sure that you file FAFSA because if you don't then that is one big miss. The whole financial aid process is somewhat of a hit and miss concept you just have to keep trying to get scholarship and aid from the offices. There are no real tips onto get more aid accept for waiting until you are an independent student and you don't need you parent finances. The last bit of information is good luck for you on getting aid.

Computer Labs Are Sweet. Being in the engineering program the computer usage on campus is vastly different than other majors. Engineering as the top of the line computer next the computer science and specific computer labs. Also, printing is done on a quota based for engineering students.

Engineering Is No Joke Its Hard Work. Being in the engineering program at Charlotte is challenging like any other school. The workload is typical of engineering student very little time for play and focus on the task at hand. The location of the school in one of North Carolina biggest city allows for numerous opportunities at internships and further jobs opportunities.

Partying in Charlotte – If you want to go out and have a good time as long as you are of age or go to a club or bar that has college night you are fine. There are buses that go around the campus that take you to Charlotte. So the fact that the city of Charlotte is only a bus ride away the campus seems to be responsible for there actions and does not tolerate a lot.

Each teacher has there own way of teaching but I have noticed that the professors that have a back ground in education do a better job of getting the material across than the ones that don't. The classes are great there are plenty of them with the registration process being simple. The workload for each class depends on the class, teacher, and the student. There are a lot of ways to get help if you need it too. The most popular areas for studying would be the library, student union, and when its warm outside the grass or benches and tables that are outside.

Greeks Vs. Non Greeks – The Greeks at UNCC are just like the non-Greeks. I am not a Greek but I have a couple of friends that are, they are very nice yes they throw parties but they aren't crazy. The Greeks do not run the school but they do do a lot around the campus. The housing for Greeks you can live in Greek village or you can stay in another dorm on campus its up to the person.

Guys & Girls:
Students at UNCC – There is a variety of boys and girls at UNCC. You can find all kinds of people from everywhere and some are from other areas here in North Carolina. Most students dress casually with some in professional attire. The campus is pretty active with students and you can get along with most people here.

I am a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and I am proud to say that I can call myself a 49er. I am a Computer Science major and that I find the Computer Science program here is fantastic. The professors here are very professional and I can always find a way to seek further help all the time if I need to ask them for their help. The campus is very beautiful and spacious and I enjoy walking through campus everyday.

Half and Half – Most of the students on my campus either smoke or drink. Some people are heavy drinkers and some are heavy smokers. It depends on who you hang with; the smokers tend to hang together. A lot of people are pressured into smoking. Most people that smoke said they never did before they got to college. It's pretty easy to find alcohol and there is an ABC store right across the street. The freshman dorms are dry and if you get caught they will write you up. I know a lot of students that received drinking tickets freshman year, although it did not stop them.

Health & Safety:
Not the Safest Place – There has been a recent increase in crime around my campus. There have been a number of break-ins. A girl was recently robbed at gun point in front of the building that I use to live in. These crimes occur at night as well as during the day. I see police paroling from time to time but I still worry about my safety on campus. I never walk anywhere alone. However, our campus does offer Safe Ride to escort you around campus up until 2 am, after that you can receive a police escort.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
