There is a huge variety of individuals around campus and most people are very acceptant and even willing to answer questions that someone has reguarding their background or ethnicity.

Variety Is Good – There is a very good variety of off dining choices around the university. There is a wide range of anything you want from fast food to fine dining all within a mile or two.

Computer labs are usually pretty available and the wireless internet is dependable. Speed is also good.

Good Experience – My school as a whole is pretty unschool spirited, pretty bland, pretty ordinary. Pretty interested in going to class and going home and that's it. However, I am an art student where we have a really tight knit community. I have met a lot of genuine people who work hard and who will be lifelong friends.

Total Commuter School – Everyone drives to UNCC. If you live close enough to campus, you might walk or ride your bike. The price and availability of parking is not appealing, so many students park at apt complexes they don't live in and walk to school. There is a free shuttle system that I rode once that only goes through campus and not off campus, but the most efficient way to get between classes is just to walk.

Greeks and Non-Greeks Are Segregated – I am not in a Greek organization, but I feel that there is a pretty strong division between Greeks and non-greeks. I don't have a single friend in a frat or sorority, and I have a lot of friends. They also tend to keep to themselves. They really like to gossip. There is brand new greek housing on campus, but I have never been there. I know that there are no parties allowed there. There are some off-campus greek houses. I went to one party, and it was dirty and not fun.

After Dark – After Dark the campus kind of dies down. Alot of people dont like staying on campus, they rather go out into the city or to the mall. There is not much to do around campus unless you wanted to go to someones dorm and drink. The school however does have awesome transportation. If you are drunk you are able to call the school cab so that they can take you home, and it is only $15.

GET a ROOM! I dont live on campus but a lot of my friends do. They tell me it is really nice to live on campus but a bit too expensive. I would love to live on campus, therefore Im applying for the scholarships. The University is fairly new and so are the dorms. They are always in the process of building more because the student population is growing.

Delicious but Not Original – The dining places around campus carry delcious foods. However, It is the same food that I see while Im driving. UNCC has Wendy's and Chick Fil'A whcih are the two most popular ones. They created their own version of Subways and named it 'Healthy Subs'. They do have a cafe named 'Prospectors" which is tasty but not as popular as Wendy's.

Beautiful Place – Charlotte is a beautiful location with lots to do uptown from the Blumenthal, to beautiful parks like Freedom,to lots of local night life with classy lounges like Crave Dessert bar. I would highly recommend UNC Charlotte because it is minutes away from uptown life and endless options of entertainment.

School Spirit – UNCC does not have a football team like most major universities so the school spirit is lacking. Basketball and academics are a huge deal to the students since they don't have a huge football team. The school is close to tons of restaurants, bars, shopping and parks for students who need something to do other than homework. It's also a quick drive to uptown where the activities for college students never end. It has everything from old restored churches, to museums, to theaters, and everything in between.

Looking for a parking spot on campus is easy mostly because of the many parking decks. Most of the students live on or around campus and do not opt to drive to school meaning that the students who drive to school can always find a parking spot. Parking is around $300 a semester if you buy the parking permit. That will save you loads of money if you don't want to pay the $8.00 per day. Be careful parking in the student lots without a parking permit...tickets are handed out quickly for that.

Be Smart About It – I know a lot of friends that have been caught drinking in their dorm rooms. But be smart about it. Don't be too loud, have someone sober there to answer the door. If you get a drinking ticket, you have to go to AA classes and they take it off your record. It's easier to get away with it in the apartments and suites than in just the rooms.

Guys & Girls:
Pretty Decent – For the most part, everyone is pleasantly average looking. There are of course the weird looking kids and the gorgeous kids, but in general, people know how to present themselves attractively. Some wear heals and dresses, some are always in work out clothes.
College Senior 2011-03-19T04:14:00Z
Looking Forward to Being Accepted – I don't really know much about my program because I am currently pre-nursing and not yet in the program it self. But it is very competitive. About 200 people will apply to the program and only about 50 get it. Chemistry is kind of the weed out class for freshman. And it is nice that they have a schedule made out for us.
College Senior 2011-03-17T15:41:52Z
Park Off Campus – Parking passes run about $300 for on campus residents and $200 for off-campus commuters. There are shuttle buses that run all day around campus and the campus is small enough where walking isn't really a hassel

The UNCC population is fairly diverse. Lots of African American and white students, but also asians, indians, and international students make up a good part of the student body as well.
College Senior 2011-03-17T15:38:46Z
Off-Campus UNCC – There is a decent amount of option off-campus for housing. The prices are fair for being in a city and there are lots of good deals for students.
College Senior 2011-03-17T15:35:47Z
Warm and Humid – Charlotte us usually warm for most of the year. The winters do not get too cold, nor do we receive a lot of snow every year. However the weather is sometime unpredictable and can change a lot from day to day.
College Senior 2011-03-17T15:33:40Z
Party Scene – Drugs are not a major issue at UNCC, even being near a large city it is pretty controlled on campus. The police have a large presence around campus on the weekends, especially at the Fraternity houses. Drinking is more popular, and if people do use drugs in usually marijuana.
College Senior 2011-03-17T15:28:25Z
UNCC has a wide array of study options. It is one of the best colleges in NC for engineering and business majors. The classes are manageable, but still challenging. UNCC has a great study abroad program that has many resources for students.

The Police Force Is Strict – I don't know how strict the police force is. I haven't lived on campus, so I steer clear of most housing-related events.

Greeks Definitely Do Not Dominate the Scene – There appears to be large sororities, but not such a noticeable scene on the fraternity side.

Health & Safety:
Good Communication Between the Campus Police and the University – There are some incidents, but the police seem to communicate well with the student body with e-mails. I see the campus police often circulating on patrol, and they all seem to be friendly and helpful.

High Costs and No Spots – Parking here varies. The permit for a parking spot is way too expensive to be useful for only a year. Parking is not all that great either. Most days it is easy to find a parking spot, but sometime, depending on the day and the hour, you may have to park a great distance from you class or you dorm. Not such a happy moment when it's nighttime. Ticketing and fines are normal and if you need a car you can rent one from the campus, they also have trollies and shuttles available.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
