When your major is declared, you are assigned a academic advisor and they go over every class you need to take, supplemental instruction and tutoring and give attention to exactly what you want to pursue. The most importiant critieria is for sure to have your immunization forms and housing/tuition registered on time. Some good tips for admission would be to ask your advisor what the best way to go/ how early you should start about your major admission

Varsity sports at UNCC is pretty well supported. There are multiple fields for field sports and a nice gym for basketball and volleyball. The students support every game of every sport and give good spirit on game day.

It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter and the spring and fall are just beautiful. There is some snow in the winters, just enough to close school once or twice and there are afternoon thunderstorms normally in the summer. When the sun is out and we get the Carolina Blue skies everything is just perfect.

The freshman dorms are older but the experience of living in a "classic" dorm is amazing and is a great way to get to know people.

Crown Commons is pretty good and the food is switched up daily. The Declining Balance places such as Chick fil a and subway are pretty good as well.

There isn't a whole lot of greek life because it is mostly a commuter school.

The computers on UNCC's campus are very good. Most, if not all, are up to date with the most recent or efficient operating system. The software provided is everything you could ask for in completing a task for a class or project

As a Spanish major, I feel there is a lack of faculty. I wish there were more options to choose from in terms of class registration. As of now, the options are very limited, such as one class only being available on mondays and wednesdays.

Off campus, there are only a few options near-by. On the N Tryon side, there's a starbucks, Jersey Mike's, Chipotle's, and Brueggers. Of these, poorer students can maybe afford Jersey Mike's on a regular basis; they just started a student discount to get a regular size sub, med. drink, and chips for $7 (plus tax). Not great, but you can get a "grande" drink and a cookie at Starbucks for the same price and a third of the nutritional value. If you have a little extra cash for breakfast, I recommend Bruegger's! I usually end up going at least 2-3 times a month. They occasionally have a punch card you can get to earn a free breakfast sandwhich/bagel. On the University City Blvd side, you have to go down the street to get to food. There's a harris teeter with a Macado's, Bento's (sushi), a frozen yogurt bar, Dunkin Donuts, Hardee's, and a wonderful (but expensive) pizza joint called Amalfi's. The food chains are average in price, but Bento's has all you can eat sushi buffet for $9. Little pricey for me. In the other direction, there's a sub shop, Arby's, and an Indian cuisine. Again, average prices. Overall, a good variety, but I don't feel like the prices reflect the needs of students.

Health & Safety:
Overall, I feel that UNC Charlotte is a safe campus. I see security around frequently, there are just enough lights on at night to light your way, but also trying to be eco-friendly. I do wish I saw them more often at night, however, especially on the walk-ways near buildings open 24/7. Of course, you should always lock your doors and be aware of your surroundings. There are a lot of the emergency stations set up around campus for if there ever is any trouble.

Campus is one of the fastest growing in the region. UNCC has many dining options. As the years have passed, more options are available. There are two main dining halls easily accessible to students living on campus. One is fairly new and the other will soon be replaced with a much larger and modern one. There is a bistro that offers dine-in restaurant style foods and various food courts with a number of well-known establishments like chick-fil-a, bojangles, wendy's ect.

The campus has a wide range of international students from over 100 countries. There is support for international students as well as services offered to minority students. Although the vast majority of the students are white, there are people of many different backgrounds and diversity of the student body is increasing rapidly.
Health & Safety:
There are always reports of robberies and assaults. Its better to travel in groups especially at night. Lock your belongings in your car and dorm. There are emergency lights/phones around campus and the campus police patrol the area, but it doesn't make it any safer. I have read police reports of people being robbed at gunpoint, or burglary in the middle of the day. These mostly targeted at young women who are walking alone distracted by a cell phone or ipod.

if you are an international student, forget it. there are very few departmental jobs like RA/TA

there not many vegan options if you are looking for few, but the overall cooking and stuff is good. there are lots of coffee shops to hang out.

Apartments are really good and well maintained. its easy to get one if you hurry up and book as soon as you get your admit. Plus communities like UT/UT north are cheap.

The mosaic labs in Duke and Smith buildings are excellent with computers available to all with the best configuration and possibly every software in your field of interest. Plotter and printers are up to date too.

There is plenty of parking options at UNCC. you can park off campus and shuttle to school or park in the lots and decks around campus.... However, you have to be willing to park away from your classes. Both of which are pretty inconvenient. Shuttles run throughout campus to make up for this though. Parking passes vary depending on need, but are still pretty expensive.
College Junior 2013-08-11T03:08:37Z
The campus is not too strict. I am not really sure exactly what it means, but I hardly ever see police unless they are riding around patrolling. Not too many crimes committed.

The housing situation is pretty good. It is fairly clean and well maintained.

There are a few bars and hot spots around campus, but there are many clubs and bars in downtown Charlotte.

They did not have much money to give out this year and in the past years they had only given small amounts for grants.
