College Prowler Take

Chapel Hill has a wide variety of off-campus restaurants. However, you don’t have to travel far in order to get good food. Franklin Street has over 30 restaurants and cafés to choose from, all within walking distance. Top of the Hill Restaurant is one of the finer restaurants on Franklin Street. Complete with its own beer brewery and a balcony overlooking Franklin Street, it is the perfect restaurant for a first date, and often students eat there before sorority or fraternity balls.

Spanky’s is a restaurant/bar located on the corner of Franklin Street. It’s where students go when they want to watch a game and eat a hearty meal. Students run to Buffalo Wild Wings on Tuesday nights to take advantage of the wing specials. They have a sporty atmosphere that is filled to capacity during televised UNC basketball and football games. Miami Subs Grill stays open late if you get hungry after an arduous study session or a long night of partying. On Franklin Street, you can eat Japanese, Italian, seafood, sandwiches, or pizza. With just over 30 restaurants within walking distance, there’s a different option for each day of the month.

Franklin Street is the hot spot...

Franklin Street is the hot spot for all restaurants, and it is close to campus. Joe's Joint is a cheap place if you like to eat cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and much more, and the prices are fairly cheap. B'Ski's is the common place to go on Franklin Street. They are open extremely late, and they deliver. The cookies at B'Ski's are really good as well. The prices are moderate depending on what you want.

There are many restaurants and options off campus with an array of cuisine and price ranges. Some of the best include 411 West and Top of the Hill, which are high-end restaurants. Also, there are cheap options such as Qudoba (Mexican), Noodles (Asian), Lime and Basil (Mediterranean), and PT's (American).

Most students go to restaurants...

Most students go to restaurants located on Franklin Street, which is right off campus. The restaurants on Franklin are more high-scale fast food restaurants that range from Chinese or Mexican to pitas or pizza. My favorite is Chipotle. There are some fast food restaurants and real dine-in restaurants not too far from campus, like a Red Lobster or a Burger King. It takes about 5-10 mins to drive there.

Franklin Street is a great place to eat for students. There is a huge variety of food, and most local places aren’t too hard on the student wallet. Some of my favorites are Franklin Street Pizza & Pasta, Cosmic Cantina, and Yogurt Pump. There are also several nicer restaurants such as Top of the Hill.

There are a variety of restaurants off campus, but I personally like Buffalo Wild Wings and the Japanese restaurants. There are too many pizza joints to name in one guidebook!
