It's nothing out of the ordinary
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:46:51Z
I wish they had more options and availability overall
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:45:43Z
Not a variety of food options
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:45:12Z
I don't even know what that is
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:44:25Z
I wish there was more maps, and more food available.

There is definitely not enough parking. The parking passes are very pricey.
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:42:31Z
Not a huge variety of classes for finance majors. Horrible availability for scheduling.
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:42:31Z
Apart from limited availability of teachers and courses offered, those of the teachers are doctors, so they are very knowledgable and they actually teach.
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:41:01Z
They don't have very many options for electives for the finance program. There is definitely not enough teachers available to have different teachers for the same course and/or there is not online classes.
College Junior 2013-12-03T00:39:09Z
They are not the newest computers. The local public college has newest computers.

That is my least favorite quality of the school. Parking is horrible. If you have a 12pm class... you better come at least an hour early to get a spot or you will have to park and walk 20 minutes just to get to the school or ride the bus that is always late and crowded. Take your pick! I hate that I paid $170 for a permit but am never able to get a spot. Oh and instead of towing a car that is illegally parked, they boot it, taking up several spaces!

Jacksonville has plenty of dining options open to students! Many chains, but also some restaurants that are independently owned and absolutely delicious!
College Junior 2013-11-26T00:42:59Z
I love the location of the school and many of the professors I have gotten to know have asked if I would like to do research for the University. You have to succeed academically to get opportunities like that and I pride myself in the fact that I truly work hard for my grades! The location is great and there is always something to do. The school and property it owns is absolutely beautiful and great for people who love the outdoors. I do suggest this school to those who are interested in a city life outside of the school property. However, I do not recommend living on campus past your first required year!

The dining hall that they just spent a couple million dollars on is way overpriced! The smaller restaurants are only open until 6pm on weekdays and maybe open from 12pm-2pm on weekends! It is crazy, just bring your own food/snacks with you to class! Your best bet for a good meal is to drive to the Town Center, about 5 minutes away, you'll have plenty of options!
Guys & Girls:
Girls are really concerned with sororities, and guys with their fraternities. You will only see them dating in those two groups. A non-greek with a greek is probably unheard of at UNF. Their relationships are all about image, good for them if they make it work. My high school sweetheart and I both go to UNF, and have been together for about 4 years so I don't really notice relationships unless it involves my friends.

Alcohol usage is permitted in 2 of the 6 dorm choices. It is allowed in rooms that have a resident who is 21 or older. Many students drink but quietly because of UPD and RA presence. Marijuana is somewhat popular and I often see busts in the Spinnaker (our student newspaper).

Jacksonville is a great place to have a college. There are many things to do. 15 minutes north of the school is the city, 5 minutes west of the school is shopping, and 10 minutes east is the beach. There are plenty of job opportunities considering there are tons of stores near the school. The local attitude towards students I have not really noticed because UNF is not really that large. A few businesses give discounts, but not that many.
College Junior 2013-11-26T00:26:41Z
There are not many parties on campus because of the strict RAs and UPD. However, Jacksonville has plenty bars and clubs. 2 of which are 5 minutes from the campus. They are fairly new and popular with great prices on cover and drinks.

Greek life at UNF is nauseating. I think it is because we don't have a football team! I suppose a lot of the students feel like they want to be a part of something big on campus and because there is no football, they resort to Greek life. It is sad to think they are supposed to exist for networking and volunteering purposes but only party and wrongfully judge non-Greeks.

Bad, as in you cannot get away with anything. From fellow students tattling like they are in elementary school to the nosy RA's, living on campus was dreadful. Once I had friends over for board games, no substances of any kind present, and not even 30 minutes later there was a knock on our door. Sure enough, it was the UPD and the RA! They honestly did not believe we were just playing board games. It felt almost incriminating. So either it was a neighbor or the RA who had a problem with laughter at 10pm on a Friday.

I rarely print on campus. I refuse to pay for printing when I have a perfectly good printer at home. Network was awful when I lived on campus. The wireless connection was extremely unreliable and often needed to trek to the library to assure I would not be booted off the internet! There are different levels to the library and they also encompass different noise levels. Well it just so happens the ONLY computer lab is on Level 2 where talking is allowed. When I need to do a test and forget headphones, I am absolutely miserable!

I am a Psychology major and an Education minor. Psychology was not a problem to get into but the college of Education is a completely different story! I am still not technically accepted into my education program because I have not taken a $100 test that has to be taken. So I am mainly focusing on my Psychology courses until I do that. If you are interested in the college of education make sure that test is out of the way!

UNF does not have a football team. They try to make up for it by glamorizing the basketball games, but it doesn't really hae much of a turn out! School spirit definitely lacks but I blame that on the lack of a sports team.
College Junior 2013-11-26T00:08:44Z
For internships you definitely have to look for them, they won't be advertised on the board in the Psychology building! There is only one small building for Psychology classes, so most of them are held in other buildings. Psychology is a pretty popular major at UNF but every semester there never seems to be enough classes offered! It is becoming a problem considering I am a year and a half away from graduating! Workload definitely depends on the professor.
College Junior 2013-11-26T00:08:44Z
I have had some great Psychology professors but that is because I check ratemyprofessors.com before I sign up for a class. I have been able to avoid some of the not so great professors, but I have been in classes where the professor was my only choice! I know every school has their good and bad but many of the unwanted professors have all the classes! The good professors only have a few which makes it difficult to get the class you want. All professors teach differently, I have known a friend to be in the same course, but different professor and I got much more out of my class than she did.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
