Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

“Wonderful,” “amazing,” “special,” “family”—these are the most common words that students use to describe their times at Notre Dame. The University has a unique atmosphere that is embraced by many; the campus is basically self-contained, the dorms are all very close-knit, and there are truly strong connections between students. While the weather may test your survival skills and the administration may try your patience, the Notre Dame experience is unlike any other you’ll ever have. The school’s tradition and history create an environment where you’ll feel welcomed the moment you step foot on campus.

Notre Dame is not an easy school, and it’s important to remember that academics are huge. Above all else, you need to be willing to study and focus, or you’re not going to make it through the University’s workload. Students here are universally dedicated to their studies, and campus life reflects it. This is not a party school. Students may find themselves frustrated by the value system or the lack of outside activities. The best recommendation for Notre Dame is to visit and check out campus life firsthand. Often, the atmosphere alone is enough to sway your feelings one way or the other.

Fighting Irish Sports

Notre Dame has one of the most recognizable sports programs in the country, and even when football is having a down year the other sports teams are world class. Most years there are a number of Big East championship teams.

Not Too Bad

The bars around campus are pretty fun, and if you have an ID you can get into a number of them. As a freshman, there are some bars that will not let you in just because you look young, but if you ask around you can easily find the underage ones. South Bend police are not very nice however, and they do raid the bars from time to time. As for clubs the only popular one is very hard to get into if under 21. Because there are no frats, the party scene is a little different, with most freshmen partying in the dorms. Off campus parties are much like those at other schools. Notre Dame has a different system than most schools, but if you know the right people you can always find a party Wed - Sat.

World Class

The Fighting Irish are D1 and are frequently in the top tier in the country in both men and women's sports. The students and faculty show great school spirit for all our teams. Besides NCAA sports Interhall and section sports have great participation and are amazing.
