Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If you happen to be walking around campus one day and spot a thin, pale, haggard-looking teen, don’t panic. At Notre Dame, the sight of such a person is more likely to indicate that they’re an architecture major overdosing on coffee at the end of an all-nighter, rather than strung out. Across the board students say that, while drugs are available around campus, they’re the exception rather than the rule. Although alcohol can be found in excess, the University’s strict zero-tolerance drug policy seems to be frightening enough to check the few students who are even interested in drug use.

Needless to say, you don’t have to worry about social pressure to use drugs at Notre Dame. Whatever does happen is always in isolated circles, and punishments can be so serious that drugs tend to stay out of sight. Of course, there are things around—this is the case at any campus. Overall, Notre Dame is not the type of school where you can toke up every day and still expect to graduate.

Alcohol > Drugs

Alcohol is extremely prevalent on campus, but drugs (even weed) are pretty hard to find. This is due to the fact that is you are caught smoking weed you are subject to expulsion. Beer is everywhere so you will be more than fine. The notre dame police are pretty chill, you will rarely even notice then when walking around campus at night on the weekend.

Sure, there are probably drugs here as there are at any college. But I haven't witnessed it or met anyone who participates. No peer pressure to do drugs.

Drinking Is Where It's at

No one does drugs. People only drink. But half the fun is avoiding those pesky and persistent police officers!
