College Prowler Take
When you and your desk, bed, drawers, clothes, and other furniture are forced to share a 14x14 space with another person, you’re bound to get cabin fever unless you eventually leave your room. Thankfully, students feel that Notre Dame offers a number of high-quality student facilities which are as nice to look at as they are to frequent. With three different locations and an appeal to both serious and casual exercisers, the athletic facilities are ranked first in popularity among the students. Despite some complaints about a lack of variety and social space, the LaFortune Student Center comes in second with its collection of restaurants and a mini-convenience store. Student praise for the athletic facilities, the restaurants and cafés, and the second floor study area of the Hesburg Library helps to offset the complaints about the minimal space at the student center. Overall, the variety, number, and condition of Notre Dame’s facilities earn excellent marks.

Rolfs and the Rock are great...
Rolfs and the Rock are great athletic facilities for anybody. I am not an athletic person and I was always able to find something I enjoyed doing. The student centers like LaFortune are nice, but the dorms are the real student centers. |

The cafeterias are both nice, as are the athletic facilities. Classrooms are comfortable, although at times rather chilly! The student center (LaFortune) has recently undergone many renovations to add several amenities to the building (Sbarro, Starbucks, and Subway) and has several other ideas brewing. Obviously, nothing is perfect, and there are always improvements to make, but overall, nothing is lacking. |

Notre Dame did not spare any expense while building any of its wonderful facilities. They all meet the technologically advanced needs of professors and students today, and almost all of the University’s buildings, old and new, are architecturally beautiful to look at. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
Attend a multicultural event, attend an event sponsored by a dorm, check out a dance, go to Acoustic Café on Thursday nights, hang out in the student center, hang out at a campus restaurant/café, watch a SUB-sponsored movie, play or relax on the Quad, or work out.
Favorite Things To Do
When the weather permits (which is less than half of the year), you will find many students throwing a football, tossing a Frisbee, or just relaxing out on one of the quads. The 9-hole golf course on campus is also a favorite while the weather is warm. The student body’s favorite late-night spot is Reckers’ Café located behind the South Dining Hall. It is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and is especially popular after Parietal hours. The LaFortune Student Center is also a popular spot at all times of the day.
Movie Theater on Campus
- None, but the Student Union Board offers weekend movies in 101 and 102 DeBartolo Hall, the two largest classrooms on campus.
Coffeehouse on Campus
- There is a Starbucks in the student center as well many other cafes on campus where you can get a cup of coffee.
