College Prowler Take
There are no Greek life divisions at Notre Dame, and most students don’t really yearn for them too much. Although there’s no way to contrast life at Notre Dame with life in a sorority or fraternity, students agree that the dorm atmosphere is a nice substitute that lacks none of the Greek flavoring. Dorm pride allows for friendly rivalries and makes up for the lack of fraternity/sorority “cliques.” Furthermore, there are plenty of residence hall activities that mirror what you would find in traditional Greek houses.

We don’t have Greek life, which is really nice. There aren’t any stereotypes like on many other campuses. There are times when I wish I did have Greek life, but they’re mostly when I’m talking to my friends at home who are in sororities. The way I look at it is, I don’t miss what I’ve never had, but I have had a great time with my friends without Greek life. |

There is no Greek life on campus, which actually makes for a great atmosphere, in my opinion. Many people comment on how the dorms act as their own sororities or fraternities, which in many ways is true. Dorms compete against each other in events, like the Late Night Olympics and intramural sports, and they have their own signature dances. Walsh Hall’s most famous event is the Fall Frolic, a dance where we all dress up like Catholic schoolgirls. It’s a lot of fun. If you ask anyone on campus, they will likely say that their dorm is the best. However, this ‘dorm pride’ doesn’t overwhelm resident life. |

There are no frats at ND. They try to have dorm life take the place of Greek life, but it really does not compare. |

There is no Greek life at ND, but in its place is an incredible dorm spirit. The dorm gives you everything and more that a fraternity or sorority would. When you meet an alumnus, the first question is always ‘What dorm did you live in?’ It really has a huge impact on life at Notre Dame, as a whole. |

ND doesn’t have...
ND doesn’t have sororities/fraternities, but each dorm does basically have the same sports, dances/mixers, charity events, and campus wide functions, so you only miss out on paying the huge sorority dues! |
