While many say that a Notre Dame education will make a student a well-rounded person, students agree that an evening dining out in South Bend is not likely to be a cultural experience. Although there are a few unique places such as Fondue! and Tippecanoe downtown. A night of off campus dining is more likely to include dinner at one of the many chain restaurants that dominate the area. Students have, however, found a few non-chain restaurants that have become favorite places to eat the college staples of pizza, burgers, and late-night burritos. And they don't seem to mind too much that ethnic foods aren't in abundance.

The chain restaurant choices don't gain points, but student satisfaction with these restaurants helps to minimize any point deductions a bit. Students that wish to eat off campus but have no transportation can call Dine-In Delivery, even though they will have to wait 50-80 minutes. Ultimately, even though the chain restaurants may make some feel at home, students are offered more variety at a lesser price in the dining hall.
