Very Lenient

I sent the forms in two months after the deadline and still received the financial aid I needed and would have gotten had I sent them in on time. They were very good about this, and I thought I got a generous amount.

Wayyyy Tooo Expensive

Notre Dame is at over $50,000/ year and their financial aid office does not help too much in contributing to the economic diversity of the student population. They treat you like a number and there is virtually no human consideration given to specific situations.

Merit-Based Difficult to Get

The median ACT range at Notre Dame, last time I checked, was better than some Ivies, so merit-based scholarships are difficult to get, at least for freshmen. I suspect the university is generous with those who have genuine financial aid, but don't be afraid to push for more if they don't give as much as you wanted.
