College Prowler Take
At the University of Oklahoma, football isn’t just a sport, it is a religion. Starting in August, the students and OU fans file like zombies to their temple (Gaylord Memorial Stadium) and worship the football team that they love so much. Not only is OU’s football team one of the main reasons that people get up in the morning, they are also quite profitable to the town merchants and business establishments. That’s why game days really are a good time. Fans set up tents along Lindsay Street, drink beer, and cook out. You can walk anywhere around the stadium and expect to get offered a hot dog and some beer from a keg. Parties after the games are fun, too. That is, unless, God forbid, the football team loses—don’t expect anyone to be in a pleasant mood afterwards. All sports at OU are a big deal, including IM sports, but those are mostly run by fraternities and sororities. OU students do place a lot of weight on athletic events. However, you shouldn’t feel left out if you cannot manage to parlay football into a reason for living. There are plenty of students here who don’t go to the games and could care less about the outcome of the game. I just wouldn’t suggest admitting it to anyone.

I’m not really into sports. I do watch football since we have been so big, and I did watch the basketball games, because they got so big, but other than that, I don’t really get into the sports. As far as the IM sports, I really have no clue. |

Getting Tickets
Season tickets to football games may be hard to come by, especially for freshmen. It is not uncommon for a lottery to be created because of the high demand for season tickets. It is quite easy to find tickets to an individual game, but with games like OU-OSU and OU-Texas, tickets are gone in minutes.
