College Prowler Take
The campus police have better things to do, like giving parking tickets, than mess with an intoxicated college kid—unless of course you give them no choice, or you have made your RA an enemy. During football season, people tailgate along Lindsay Street and roll out kegs and TVs, and neither the Norman Police, nor the OU police, bother anyone. As long as you don’t give them a reason to bother you, then they pretty much leave students alone. There are, however, instances where the OUPD must take action. An example: if a complaint is filed about the noise level in your dorm room. In this case, you will be given a ticket with a fine, and like one of the students interviewed stated, they increase with each instance. Drinking and driving, as students will tell you, is closely monitored around the OU campus. Luckily, any bar or party you are going to be at during freshman year will most likely be relatively close and within walking distance. Even though this is the safer route to go when you are intoxicated, trying to walk (or stumble) back to your room drunk can be a challenge. So, if you are not making a scene or causing a disturbance, you can probably go about your business without being hassled by campus police.

Drugs? Pretty strict. Don’t get caught. Drinking? They’ll give you a ticket for anything. But all schools I have been to are like this. |

It really depends on what dorm you live in and who your RA is, but from what I’ve seen, they aren’t too strict about alcohol as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. |

I don’t really know. It’s not too strict, but you have to be careful. OUPD is a pain. |

Police are pretty strict....
Police are pretty strict. Especially if drugs are involved. If underage, you can get in a lot of trouble such as getting kicked out of housing, school, off teams, and so on. Don’t mess around with them. |

Yuck. They’re pretty strict, I think, or they try to be. Drinking and driving is risky. There are many ways around these things I guess. There are always dorm parties and fraternity parties and what not. |
