Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

The majority of students were very satisfied with their time spent at OU. They feel that the small town of Norman offers a true college experience, along with the ability to give back to the community. Most feel that people in Norman are genuinely friendly and, for the most part, down to earth. The academics at OU are strong, and, generally speaking, the professors are understanding and qualified.

Although there are some aspects that could use improvement, like parking, OU offers many great perks that make up for the minor inconveniences. OU has a strong athletic tradition, and the facilities available to students and athletes alike are top-of-the-line. There are numerous things to do, depending on what or with whom you care to do them with. Ultimately, what makes OU such a great place was different for every student, which only proves that OU truly does have something for everybody.

Overall

I am about to finish my first year here at OU. There are tons of greeks everywhere. I can handle it only because I can ignore people but I'm definitely transferring to another school where greek life is not so popular. The school spirit is great because we have great sports teams, especially football. I live in the athletics dorms which are great because you don't have to have roommate! Their cafeteria food is really bad. I have met some really good friends for the 2 semesters I have been here. The greeks are mostly nice but only really want friends in the greek system. Guys on campus, ehh..... I work out a lot, the gym is huge and has great group fitness classes. I got in a really bad car accident here while my family was in Nevada which makes me want to stay closer to family. I have only been to the library twice, once with a class and the other time on the school tour before I was a student. I do go to the writing center which is helpful, action tutoring and the unoin. The grooming of the campus is great, it always looks nice inside the buildings and outside. Parking is really bad, the parking pass for the residents in the sooner housing center (athletic dorms) only works for the lot behind the housing. For the towers you can park in lots of other places. Parking pass is expensive like everything else. It is really hard to get scholarships, I have yet to get one and I have good grades. Overall its a great school but with tons of greeks.

I love love love OU!! I could stay here year-round if I had to, and I'm from Houston. I love the people here because they are super friendly. The campus is gorgeous, and I have nothing to complain about. School is do-able with all the resources available here, and the professors actually care about my well-being and how I am doing in their class. Not to mention, our football team rocks. I love it here, and I could not have made a better decision!

It has helped me to become more...

It has helped me to become more outgoing and confident about myself. I know that I can succeed and get somewhere in life. Recently, OU went up in some prestigious poll in the top 10 schools that receive the best education or something like that. It was a big deal. The sports are so much fun. The Greek system will help you meet tons more people, too. But if you don’t like that sort of thing, it’s not a big deal. I love it here, and I feel like I’m at home. You should truly think about coming here. There are so many life-changing experiences and awesome people you will encounter. I promise you’ll love it.
