The University of Oregon is as wired as Eugene’s beloved quadruple-shot espresso. It has seven computer labs open to all students that include Macs and PCs, and high-speed Internet is available throughout the dorms and campus buildings. Although there is, at most, only a short wait in the public labs, students recommend bringing a personal computer to combat the stress of not having one readily available. Most can’t imagine life without their own computer.
If you choose to depend on the labs, the Knight Library computers are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. If you are considering a laptop, it’s important to note that the University’s technology department is rapidly expanding the wireless services available on campus—more than 30 buildings offer wireless access, and the numbers are growing. This allows students the freedom to do research or check e-mail at many different places on campus, as well as at wireless hotspots around town. All dormitories come primed with Ethernet connections, too, allowing students easy access 24 hours a day. With free, updated software provided to all students and ever-growing technological advancements, the University is always ahead of the technology game.

Sometimes Crowded, Would Like to See More Macs
The computer availability is almost always guaranteed, pretty crowded around midterms and finals, but most people are using laptops.

Overall a Good System
I bring my own computer to school but I have used one of the many computers available in the library. The internet connection is generally good over the wireless but I have had some minor issues. Printing is convenient as you can download a driver to your laptop for printing in the library. It does however, cost money or campus cash.

College Prowler guides are in the hands of students throughout the entire process. Because you can't make student-written guides without the students, we have students at each campus who write, edit, and survey their peers for every guide that we publish.
