Social Scene
The social scene at the University is open to everything from coffee shops to bars to the classroom itself. Students at the UO tend to be outgoing and approachable. House parties are big at UO because of the more lax and easy-going vibe of the student body. Once you turn 21, the bar scene is fun, too, but the house parties are always a good alternative.
Hookups or Relationships?
Oregon seems to go through phases when it comes to the dating scene. For one term, everyone will be involved in relationships; the next, the selection is as open as a buffet at Las Vegas. Serious relationships seem to be most prominent at UO, but hookups do occur (most often in the Greek system and the bar scene).
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
For freshman, the dorms provide a great opportunity to live in close proximity to members of the opposite sex. Many dorm friendships have the opportunity to become something more. For the upperclassmen, the hot spots of Taylor's and Rennie's off campus never seem to fail for meeting members of the opposite sex. Outside of the classroom, coffeeshops also provide the chance for social interaction in a comfortable atmosphere. The University is swarming with nearly 20,000 students, so opportunities to meet your next boyfriend or girlfriend are never too far away.
Dress Code
Fashion at the University of Oregon ranges from students wearing business attire to people walking around without shoes. Whether you wear three-piece suits every day or dress like carefree hippie, you'll be accepted around Eugene. In terms of going out, the same applies. Some girls will wear jeans and a sweatshirt, while others will wear a nice dress and heels. However, the overall population does seem to dress more casually, especially due to the weather.
