Did You Know?
  • The Department of Public Safety recently organized a Public Safety Advisory Group to serve as an active liaison between members of the community and DPS while keeping communication lines open.
  • In September 2002, nearly 1,000 students rioted in the West University area after drunken partygoers piled up mattresses and other furniture on a traffic circle and set them ablaze. By the end of the evening, 35 students were arrested and nearly $20,000 worth of damage had accumulated. The administration has since cracked down, enforcing a no-drinking policy for campus residents. Guards are now trained to watch out for students who are staggering and/or have possession of alcohol.
