Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Oregon students love having several bars just a stroll away from campus. Taylor’s Bar & Grille and Rennie’s Landing have always been student favorites and constantly compete for attention. Rock ‘n Rodeo is a big hot spot located in downtown Eugene. In spite of a decent bar scene, however, the club scene in Eugene is practically nonexistent. The Annex, one of the only places in the area to offer dancing, has changed from 18+ to 21+ in an effort to draw a new type of crowd, leaving only one club, Taboo, to those under 21.

Many places in Eugene cater to students and the college population. Overall, Taylor’s Bar & Grille is far more fitting for the Greek crowd, whereas Rennie’s Landing is more diverse and laid-back. Buster’s Sports Bar & Grill is another place more students should check out, and it’s starting to catch on. Although bars are mostly friendly around Eugene, the lack of clubs and two-hour drive to Portland makes for a less-than-ideal atmosphere. The town could really use more nightspots, and house or frat parties only go so far to compensate.

Off Campus

Partying off campus is definitely the way to go. With upper-classmen mostly living off campus, most parties take place off campus but not in bars or clubs.

Party Life

Parties are pretty good, there are always a lot of freshman walking around on the streets, and house parties are usually better than frat parties because they're free and there are more girls that attend them.

Nightlife is close to nonexistence at University of Oregon

University of Oregon's nightlife sucks, there small and everything is over by 12 or 1. You will not get your Insane college experience at Oregon, that I think a lot of people constantly complain about. Concerts, and occasional big parties can be fun, but for the most part its a struggler to find a really raging typical college party.

Rennie’s Landing

The second most notorious bar for students, located just off campus. Rennie’s has survived through the decades in a constant civil war for attention with Taylor’s. Yet Rennie’s offers a more spacious atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a more diverse crowd than that of a place like Taylor’s. For a hot atmosphere and strong drinks, Rennie’s is packed on the weekends. Cover: None

Wild Duck Brewery

This is an excellent place to come to sample some of the greatest beers. The atmosphere is perfect for an intimate date or to just hang out with some of your buddies. Cover: None

Taylor’s Bar & Grille

Every student at the UO knows what Taylor’s is, and they can easily point you in the right direction. Located across the street from campus, Taylor’s has been around since the 1930s and is easily considered the hottest spot for college students. Although the Greek crowd can occasionally dominate the scene, Taylor’s offers a sexy atmosphere with great music and even better drinks. Cover: None

21 W. 6th Ave.

(541) 344-6174

McMenamin’s North Bank

Primarily a seafood restaurant, this is a chill place to come get a few good beers in you before the night begins. Open only until 11 p.m. during the week, and midnight on weekends. Come early, and enjoy the beer list. Cover: None

22 Club Rd.

(541) 343-5622

Joggers Bar & Grill

It’s a nice, busy sports bar where you can always find something to do. The food is good, especially the hot wings, and the entertainment is top-notch. Cover: Friday–Saturday $2

710 Williamette St.

(541) 343-0224

Oregon Electric Station

At the Oregon Electric Statio,n you’ll find much more than the college atmosphere, in a toned-down setting. The drink menu is extensive and the atmosphere is classy, but if you’re looking for a hot night of dancing and debauchery, this isn’t the place to be. For a first date or a more intimate place to drink, however, this is just where you want to go. Cover: None

27 E. 5th Ave.

(541) 485-4444

Neighbors

If you’re looking for a more diverse atmosphere, Neighbors could just be the place for you. As the only drag bar in close vicinity, Neighbors will give you a scene unlike any other place around. This is a hot spot for some students. Cover: None

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?
