College Prowler Take
Oregon students love having several bars just a stroll away from campus. Taylor’s Bar & Grille and Rennie’s Landing have always been student favorites and constantly compete for attention. Rock ‘n Rodeo is a big hot spot located in downtown Eugene. In spite of a decent bar scene, however, the club scene in Eugene is practically nonexistent. The Annex, one of the only places in the area to offer dancing, has changed from 18+ to 21+ in an effort to draw a new type of crowd, leaving only one club, Taboo, to those under 21. Many places in Eugene cater to students and the college population. Overall, Taylor’s Bar & Grille is far more fitting for the Greek crowd, whereas Rennie’s Landing is more diverse and laid-back. Buster’s Sports Bar & Grill is another place more students should check out, and it’s starting to catch on. Although bars are mostly friendly around Eugene, the lack of clubs and two-hour drive to Portland makes for a less-than-ideal atmosphere. The town could really use more nightspots, and house or frat parties only go so far to compensate.

To be honest, there really is not...
To be honest, there really is not much nightlife in downtown Eugene. If you're underage, your choices are going to be limited to house parties or drinking in your dorm room. Once I hit 21, I've been able to hit up the bars and clubs. Portland is only a little over an hour away too!

Taylor’s Bar & Grille is right on...
Taylor’s Bar & Grille is right on the corner of campus and is home to the ‘regulars’ and a lot of Greeks. For the best bars, you should probably head downtown to Rock ‘n Rodeo, which has both music and dancing. |

Big bar nights are definitely...
Big bar nights are definitely Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the weekends, most people party at their places. There are a ton of bars downtown, and Joggers Bar & Grill is my favorite. Right off campus, on 13th, there’s Taylor’s Bar & Grille and Rennie’s Landing. Oh yeah, the sports bars are really popular during football and basketball seasons. |

Tons of college bars; Taylor’s Bar & Grille is right on 13th Street. There is also Joggers Bar & Grill and Rock ‘n Rodeo. There is only one underage club, but there’s plenty for someone under 21 to do: blues clubs, comedy clubs, and such. |

Clubs and bars off campus are all...
Clubs and bars off campus are all 21-and-older here in Eugene, so if you want to go out dancing or something then I recommend making the two hour drive up to Portland. |

At the Oregon Electric Statio,n you’ll find much more than the college atmosphere, in a toned-down setting. The drink menu is extensive and the atmosphere is classy, but if you’re looking for a hot night of dancing and debauchery, this isn’t the place to be. For a first date or a more intimate place to drink, however, this is just where you want to go. Cover: None Oregon Electric Station 27 E. 5th Ave. (541) 485-4444
Every student at the UO knows what Taylor’s is, and they can easily point you in the right direction. Located across the street from campus, Taylor’s has been around since the 1930s and is easily considered the hottest spot for college students. Although the Greek crowd can occasionally dominate the scene, Taylor’s offers a sexy atmosphere with great music and even better drinks. Features karaoke night, ‘80s night, Hick-hop (whatever that is), plus ladies dance nightly. Occasionally they will throw in the cha-cha, waltz, and country two-step, so bring your dancing shoes. Cover: $3 except on Thursdays, when ladies pay no cover. Rock ‘n Rodeo 44 E 7th St. (541) 344-1293
If you’re looking for a more diverse atmosphere, Neighbors could just be the place for you. As the only drag bar in close vicinity, Neighbors will give you a scene unlike any other place around. This is a hot spot for some students. Cover: None Neighbors 1417 Villard St. (541) 338-0334

Primarily a seafood restaurant, this is a chill place to come get a few good beers in you before the night begins. Open only until 11 p.m. during the week, and midnight on weekends. Come early, and enjoy the beer list. Cover: None McMenamin’s North Bank 22 Club Rd. (541) 343-5622
The second most notorious bar for students, located just off campus. Rennie’s has survived through the decades in a constant civil war for attention with Taylor’s. Yet Rennie’s offers a more spacious atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a more diverse crowd than that of a place like Taylor’s. For a hot atmosphere and strong drinks, Rennie’s is packed on the weekends. Cover: None Rennie’s Landing 1214 Kincaid St. (541) 687-0600
This is an excellent place to come to sample some of the greatest beers. The atmosphere is perfect for an intimate date or to just hang out with some of your buddies. Cover: None Wild Duck Brewery 169 W. Sixth St.t (541) 485-3825
