Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

The University of Oregon is a big school in a small town. Eugene is more liberal than many college towns, however, and offers a lot of atmosphere for its size. Tolerance and acceptance are strong values in the area, and many students like the feeling of community that comes from living in a town this close-knit. UO has something for every style and mindset, along with a wealth of opportunities and experiences to prepare you for the world outside college. At the UO, you’ll find a school that is strong in both athletics and academics, as well as a campus surrounded by the perfect area for outdoor activities. With a beautiful campus and laid-back atmosphere, Oregon definitely stands apart from similar schools. Although ethnic diversity is lacking, there is a wealth of lifestyles and ideas to be found on and off campus. The weakest elements of the UO are more trivial things, such as parking and weather. While the academics may not be Harvard-level, most students feel that they’re being prepared for a competitive world both in the classroom and outside of it.

Because of the liberal atmosphere, it’s important to know how to balance schoolwork and social life if you come to Oregon. However, this isn’t any more of a problem than with most city schools, and few students complain about feeling unsafe or distracted. The University of Oregon can provide the quintessential college experience with few drawbacks, provided you can adapt to life in Eugene.

Duck Love

U of O is pretty much the best place to be. Options are presented in nearly every category and people are friendly as ever. My favorite part is the fact that we have live ducks that live on our campus. People even leave out pet food dishes with chunks of bread so they have something to eat. If I had to make the decision all over again I would still pick the University of Oregon as my go-to school. I wouldn't trade my experiences here for anything.

I Bleed Green

University of Oregon is everything I could have wanted in a college, plus some. Living in the residence halls my Freshman year was an unforgettable experience. I met the friends I will have forever and the experience was one I will never have again.

The Journalism program is amazing and all the professors are inspiring and WANT to help you produce top quality pieces.

The diversity on campus is great and I feel it is easy to be accepted. There are many groups and organizations to get involved with you just need to put yourself out there!

I am proud to call myself and Duck and I will forever bleed green!

Oregon

I absolutely love the school. It is gorgeous. There is green everywhere and the air and water are so clean. I have never felt so at home at a school in my life. There is no place better. The education I am recieving is also phenomenal. It is very focused and in depth.
