Pretty Good!

There are many places to choose from, but I think one of the best dining halls is way too far away. There aren't very many healthy options.

Dormlife is dormlife. The rooms are small, the showers are terrifying, but the food, it's practically free. You use your pretty little i.d. card and bam, an instant warm meal customized to your specific likings. Big mouth burrito and Fire and Spice grill? It doesn't get any better than that. Sitting in common grounds as I write this, the social atmosphere is light. Everyone's gathered and smiling and asking each other questions about the plans for the weekend. It's friday tomorrow, everyone's feeling great as usual.

Personal Dislike

My opinion of Greek Life is entirely negative but also entirely personal. I have lots of friends who love it. The Frats party the most but they also get in the most amount of trouble.

Good Variety of Foods

I think the campus does a great job of balancing the needs of the students. There are normal chains to eat at on and near campus, and several that are vegetarian friendly. They have composting set up, which I appreciate. The best place to eat on campus would be Holy Cow, a local vegetarian food place that is really tasty.

Police and Some Ridiculous Safety Faculty

Some RA's and housing managers are so ridiculously out of hand with writing people up for the stupidest things. You get treated like a little kid. Police is pretty strict and you will get caught if you are walking around with an open container the majority of the time. I hate having a dry campus.

Beautiful Campus, Good Athletics, some Cool People but....

what else? The campus is beautiful, sports are great, have met some really cool people, and some really not so cool people( however that is at any college), but what this school extremely lacks is the Fun and Crazy college experience. Greek is dry and weak, house parties are extremely weak ending way to early and just not the typical crazy college parties that you will find at schools like UCSB,Chico State,or San Diego State. The weather does make you depressed and feel claustrophobic. Eugene is a pretty small dull town, with some surprisingly good concerts however, they do have good venues! Campus strictness is getting a little overboard however I have never felt unsafe on campus ever. Its not a bad school, however if you are looking for a really crazy, memorable college experience, I would not recommend Oregon.

Nightlife is close to nonexistence at University of Oregon

University of Oregon's nightlife sucks, there small and everything is over by 12 or 1. You will not get your Insane college experience at Oregon, that I think a lot of people constantly complain about. Concerts, and occasional big parties can be fun, but for the most part its a struggler to find a really raging typical college party.

Comfortably Safe

I feel totally safe around campus. If I walk by myself at night, I just make sure I walk around the lighted areas on campus. I also try to be aware of my surroundings and not wear headphones just in case.

It is obvious that most students at UO drink and/or smoke weed. Other drugs are not so obvious but quite a few students do take part.

Diversity Is Improving

Lately, there have been a string of attacks against people of different ethnic groups around campus. The police and campus security are doing their best to ensure the students' safety. There were also incidents involving the Native American club spreading offensive pamphlets to other minorities, that requested the other minority to leave the country. The school confronted the group on that issue as well, but didn't deal with the issue to my satisfaction. There are a lot of Caucasians and students of Asian descent attending the school.

Living on Campus

Living on campus was a great experience because I got the real feel of college life and it was a great way to make close friends. The dorm room itself was really small, however, that wasn't a problem because my roommate and I became really good friends, and it was like a sleepover every night! Dorm life was expensive, however, I feel that for the experience, it was totally worth it.

Police on Campus

There is a police location on campus as well as in the community, but all they seem to do is hunt drunk college students down and fine them for hundreds of dollars. I get e-mails nearly every other week of girls being assaulted when walking by themselves, and to be careful. I think the UO focuses too much on making money that they have forgotten that the police should be protecting us, and not robbing us.

More Free Parking!

There is free 2 hour parking along the outskirts of campus, but if you want to park close, then you have to buy a permit, which can be really expensive. There should be more free parking, considering we spend a fortune in tuition!!

Great Business School!

The business school is a great program to get in to. There is even a specific undergrad office for pre-business majors. They offer a ton of help with free tutoring and academic advising. All the professors are incredibly passionate too and like to get on a one-to-one basis with their students. More so, networking is an incredibly important aspect of the program, so they really encourage that with students.

Technology

There are various computer labs on campus that are easily accessible and always kept updated to the highest quality. Many departments have their own technology centers which cater directly to the students major. I have never had a problem with network reliability or wireless access, however, there have occassional problems with the printing centers. During crunch times, like finals, this can be extremely annoying.

Amazing Academics

I have had an amazing experience at the University of Oregon academically. The courses and curriculums have been incredibly fulifilling. I found that while lower-division courses are usually larger, the instructors do a fantastic job of attempting to meet individual students needs and of encouraging blossoming interests within intro level subjects. Classes only improve as you move further along and the knowledge you gain is incomparable.

Hippies and Housing.

The school is really super liberal and into hippie stuff. People are very environmentally conscious and have one of the most ambitious recycling programs I've ever seen. Many students also try to live sustainably, buying organic or even growing their own food. This pervasive hippie-ness can sometimes get irritating, but it definitely beats having the opposite. Also, many people after freshman or sophomore year move off-campus. The neighborhoods close to campus are populated with students and can be dirty and loud. I live further from campus, in a quiet, relaxed neighborhood, and I'm still only a 10 to 15 minute bike ride away. There's a variety of housing options available in Eugene that will suit your preferences

Football Is God Here, but Nothing Else.

People are nuts for the football team. Starting fall quarter, everything revolves around football and business is at an almost standstill during Saturday games. It makes sense, because Oregon has the best football team in the PAC-10 and one of the best college football teams in the country. The team also has a lot of money, so student athletes have very nice facilities. The games are fun and are packed every time. It's pretty hard to get tickets now that it's an online ticket claim thing. However, when the football season is over, the rest of the year, it's like, "eh."

U of O's Registration Process

The university of Oregon's registration process is very convenient. The school does not make student's jump through hoops to register for classes. They are prompt about sending back replies as to whether or not you have successfully applied to whatever you wanted and they are very concientious about replying in a manner that is not intimidating if you have done something incorrectly. They are very good at making future students feel welcome and if they feel they are over whelmed with the registration process there is always help available for them.

Beautiful Campus

During the drier months, students on bicycles can be found zipping across campus. The grassy areas are vast and lovely to sit on (when they aren't wet from the rain). The campus is home to a huge variety of trees from all over the world, several great museums, and a beautiful old library with quite a selection of collectible books.
