The OC Transpo (Ottawa public buses) is pretty reliable, but in the night the buses are often late. The OC Transpo's monthly pass is not too bad, and the UPass cost is included in your tuition, but if you were to use bus tickets the buses are very expensive.

The University of Ottawa is very generous in giving scholarships, especially to first year students. If your is above 80% you are guaranteed an entrance scholarship of at least $1000/year and this will increase an extra $1000/year per every 5%, with a maximum of $4000/year. The difficult part however is maintaining the scholarship. The required GPA to maintain your scholarship is 8.5, which is an A average, doable but difficult especially in the first year.

There are many nice restaurants off campus, as the campus is located in central downtown where there are many fancy restaurants. The Baton Rouge is especially nice. And with the Rideau Centre right beside campus there are plenty of places to eat in the food court. Food is quite pricey though, so I wouldn't recommend eating out often if you're on a low budget.

They vary. You better not take a class in an old building with no power outlet at every seat but they are coming along so this will turn into an A one day.

Computers are on par. Loaded with software and has everything you need to work peacefully on an assignment you are stressing over because you stayed up late one time and left your laptop at home. And also, printers! You can set up your laptop to print too at the Library.

Not a single gunshot ever heard so no gang violence there. You might smell some occasional pot, in which case you should probably get some instead of waiting an hour and a half at the clinic.

Bad taste for price, very few healthy options. Go to Govinda or Perfection Satisfaction Promise for health however it's a bit of a walk. Or you know what? Go to Loblaws or Metro, get 100$ and load up on food, cook something yourself at home and pack a lunch. You know what you can make? Anything you want. You can also go at night to not wait in line.

Nightlife in Ottawa is great if you can drive to Montreal.

My grade reflects on how diversity is handled. Yes it is there, but it's being spouted too often. Diversity is good to preserve when other cultures actually have something to provide besides religious associations and prejudice. No one is really invited to integrate but we constantly give more refuge and then have to walk by UCU every year to nonsense like Islam Awareness week or the dozen Christian Associations. We have diversity, all right, diversity of insanity.

Honestly, there are tons of greeks on campus! Greek life at U of O has opened so many doors for me and because of it I know so many more people on campus. There is not only local sororities and Fraternities but also international ones, all of the organizations are really different and really valuable because of that :) If you're thinking about rushing a sorority of frat, I would definitely recommend it! (And rush a few! See where you feel you fit in) side note: I was really intimidated by the posts on Collegeprowler because it made me think that there really wasn't a point in joining a sorority if they aren't relevant to the school. NOT true!

There is always something going on, and the variety is huge.
No matter what you like to do, there will be something that fits your tastes.

Parking on campus is a nightmare.
There is very little parking for you unless you have a parking pass, and parking off-campus is usually packed (unless you get there before 7:00am, but even then it's hard to find a spot) and expensive.
If you are lucky enough to be able to afford an parking pass, doesn't mean you are guaranteed a spot.

There are lots of options in terms of intramural, however spots fill up very quickly (often the first day registration is open).
A lot of our varsity sports games are free, which is great.
Athletic services (gyms, open swim, etc) are poor. Always, always packed and not always kept in the best condition.
There are a lot of useful services, but you have to ask around a lot to become aware of them

They need more buses, they're usually late and always crowded (especially a 95)

Not for Me – This is an alright school, but I and many people found it hard to make friends on campus. The administration is a difficult to deal with, and the cafe food is not good and is overpriced. I didn't feel at home or comfortable at this school. I love the city but I didn't enjoy the campus.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe School – University of Ottawa works hard to keep you safe. They have a protection service that walks you home if your scared or alone, and the protection service is always on foot patrol. There are more than 70 emergency phones set up on the campus.

Its no big deal if you are a Greek. Greeks are hardly seen or advertised on campus. I for one didn't even know about them until my third year at school.

Beautiful City, Lots to Do. The campus its self is actually pretty boring but the city is fun if you know where to look. Lots to do for music/art lovers as they can check out National Arts Centre (NAC), National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa Bluesfest, ottawa jazz festival, and many more. Lots of outdoor space, and plenty of bike paths that you can busy for hours. I personally joined a martial arts club and met most of my friends their. Many sports clubs and gyms in the city to keep you fit.

Guys & Girls:
Very diverse, as we have people from all over Canada, we also have a good numbe rof the french speaking population since the university is bilingual
College Junior 2012-01-14T16:48:55Z
Great as the university is located in the heart of downtown. restaurants are cheap and easily accesible
College Junior 2012-01-14T16:48:07Z
Registration process is quite easy and effective. Professors are mostly pretty good. Workload is greater than avaerage but manageable
College Senior 2011-11-03T02:19:48Z
Wireless Access – The wireless access is not up to par with other universities.

A Beautiful Capital City! Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, and there is no wonder why! With loads of museums to visit, beautiful, historical buildings around to look at, and the atmosphere having a European feel to it, you will want to live here for a very long time! It's just 2 hours away from Montreal, a beatuiful big city in Quebec, and just a mere 4 hours away from Quebec City, where loads of Winter festivals are held!! It's no wonder why many people applied to University of Ottawa, with it being a centre of the city, PLUS being near to so many great things that people can gladly enjoy!

Great First Year – I really do love the University of Ottawa. I had a pretty great first year and I think some of things that helped were all of the clubs and activities there are to get involved in. I got to meet most of friends from joining the dance team and a new sorority on campus that stands for some amazing things as well as changing the sorority stereotype. It is also a great cultural environment, which I love. I also enjoyed my classes and had great professors, it is a great academic environment as well.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
