Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Pitt–Johnstown is an excellent school for the student that likes the small-town feel. A beautiful oasis in a small and poverty-stricken city, students enjoy the perks of fresh air, green scenery, and personal attention from instructors. Most of the classrooms are small like the ones at your high school; only a few are located in large lecture halls.  Also, despite the remote location, the Galleria mall and Wal-Mart are each a short drive or bus ride away.

That being said, Pitt–Johnstown might not be an excellent choice for students who wish to play popular varsity sports like football (which is nonexistent at UPJ), have a large selection of activities to choose from, or who wish to have a wide range of major options. Most of the students at UPJ major in education, and a large percentage of the rest consists of computer science or engineering majors. Those who do not enjoy a quiet atmosphere or a relatively homogeneous student population would be best off applying to a larger school such as the University of Pittsburgh's main campus. But Pitt–Johnstown is a good option for those who feel the opposite, and for those financially struggling Johnstown residents who want to attend a decent four-year college but cannot afford to dorm at a far-off campus.

Great Parking

Cost is roughly $80 per year, and you can normally find a spot within a 5 minute walk from your building.
