College Prowler Take
If you're looking for first-rate athletic facilities, you won't be disappointed by what Pitt has to offer. The Petersen Events Center, a state-of-the-art basketball and recreation arena, boasts a number of cardiovascular machines and a large free-weight area, as well as racquetball courts and eateries that work on Pitt's meal plan. This is also where important University ceremonies are held such as, freshman convocation and graduation. The Pete also hosts a number of concerts and athletic tournaments. There are additional athletic facilities that are older but also offer pools, track arenas, and other indoor practice and weight rooms. The main residence halls also have smaller gyms attached, but the equipment is older and can only be accessed by residents of that dorm. The Hillman Library, the University's primary collection, has four floors and enough hard-copy and online volumes to make research convenient. The library staff is very knowledge and always willing to help. If you need something specific, you can access smaller, subject-orientated libraries that are located around campus. Pittsburgh' Carnegie Library is available to students and is located less than a block from the HIllman. The William Pitt Union, a recently renovated student center, offers a food court and plenty of activities. Unlike at many schools, the Union has not become a hub of student life but is starting to move more in that direction with the renovated "Nordy's Place" which houses a lounge inspired coffee bar, TV area, and the Gig's Game Center that has a number of PC and XBOX 360 games.

The libraries are great for all of your studying needs, and I think students here don’t utilize the Union enough. Most people go to the Union to buy tickets or to eat, but there is a whole study area along with a great game room that most students never even use. Many of the pool and Ping-Pong tables go untouched for hours at a time, which I really feel is a shame. |

Our athletic facilities are gorgeous. The Peterson Events Center gym is hooked up, not to mention they put some great new eateries in there that work with the meal plan. Trees Hall got some more equipment, although some areas of that facility could use some reworking. |

The Peterson Events Center is...
The Peterson Events Center is gorgeous. The student center is a dressed down hotel, so there are still pieces of flair to it, but they have dressed it down enough so it feels okay to visit it in your pajamas. The computer labs are always being updated, although I wish they would replace some of the chairs. |

I think most of the facilities on campus are really nice. Things are generally pretty clean and well lit. Some centers could use more of their respective equipment, but I’ve never felt as if something was crappy. |

The buildings are nice, and easy to get to. The campus is filled with grass and trees, so if you are not used to the city, it’s not overwhelming. As far as the inside of the buildings goes, some classrooms are great, while others have uncomfortable chairs. The Cathedral is slowly getting air conditioned, which can be pretty painful for summer classes. |
