Mayagüez is an average city in size. It's lively most of the time thanks to the big population of college students in the whole town. This town has one of the most competent colleges in all of Puerto Rico, which is University of Puerto Rico of Mayagüez, and two other colleges such as Catholic University of Mayagüez. It also has a zoo and great nearby beaches. Another thing it has is a place called Joyuda, where there are many restaurants with great tropical food. At night, there are many places where students gather to eat and talk. Sincerely, it is also a town where students from every place of Puerto Rico come to party and have fun.

Greek life is mostly about parties and drinking, there is no charity and stuff like that. They don't even have like a fraternity house or building.

Varsity sports here are not that huge, but there still a lot of motivation, spirit and companionship when it comes to them.

Guys & Girls:
Most of the people at UPRM are nice and most people work hard for their grades. There is a large variety in girls, and most of them are really smart.
College Sophomore 2013-05-18T21:52:11Z
Most of the professors here are very nice and even some of the classes that you might consider easy can be challenging.
College Junior 2013-05-10T15:59:34Z
Much variety. If you live alone,it's not worth paying more than 450, there are cheaper places and closer to the university. If you share an apartment, depending on where it's located and the size of the room, don't pay more than 400,seriously. Some people over price the rent.
College Junior 2013-05-10T15:56:04Z
I don't have a car,I walk every day to class. It's better to have class early so that you find a spot because after 9am,its IMPOSSIBLE. If you REALLY need to take your car,be sure to be in campus 35 minutes before your class starts to have some possibility to find a parking spot. Oh,and if it rains, the parking floods. There are videos on youtube about a jeep driving in the middle of the flood. You'll see what I mean.

Guys & Girls:
Most people here are interested in hook-ups. Not my type of thing,so I give them a C.
College Junior 2013-05-10T15:47:11Z
The campus does not have housing available for students, only for athletes. Good pricing close to campus(walking distance) is between 200-350.
College Junior 2013-05-10T15:44:45Z
The food is excellent, but you grow tired of the options quickly. The menu is not very varied. However, the price is not so bad for the amount they serve. Luckily, outside campus is the "town center" that has plenty of yummy options if you crave something else.
College Sophomore 2013-05-07T20:49:58Z
It is fairly good. Still there is room for improvement. Professors should explain better the topics as often many of them discuss the courses fast because they are behind with the syllabus. Others just don't know how to explain, or not explain at all. How am I supposed to learn?
College Sophomore 2013-05-07T20:44:14Z
At least they have food. However, food not always is good. Most of food is almost cold when I go to buy something.
I mostly go to fast foods, like Church Chicken.
College Sophomore 2013-05-07T20:42:47Z
I don't go out. As I go directly to my house after class.
College Sophomore 2013-05-07T20:39:04Z
I live with parents so I don't have any problems.
Still, sometimes I have thought if I should look for housing.
For what I have seen, for the cost of live in the area, there are many expensive housing I can't afford. Also the low cost housing are far from Campus. Not very convenient. Of course, if I were to go housing off-campus.
College Junior 2013-04-30T03:27:46Z
The housing available inside the premises is only for athletes, the rest of the students have to find housing in the vicinity. The houses offer good sized room with full amenities and parking at an expensive price most of the time ($600, 2 rooms, 1 bathroom and kitchen) The apartment which are smaller and cheaper are most of the times in bad conditions. The social atmosphere is non existent in some streets but there are about 3 streets which are always ready to party. The apartments are at walking distance to the university, most under 10 minutes from the university.
College Junior 2013-04-30T03:23:22Z
Most of the off campus dining offered are fast foods or mexican food. The costs are average and never offer students discounts. The city lives off students and only offer discounts at the movies. The variety of food is average, most students find it better and cost effective to cook since at walking distance there are few choices(KFC,TACO BELL,SUBWAY,MEXICAN,WENDYS, CHURCHS, MESON).

Most computer labs are accessible to students on their department. There are general labs for everyone in the library and student centers. Most of the computers are up to date with Windows 8 and have all the tools needed for a college student to research, program, design, browse and write anything needed.
College Junior 2013-04-30T03:13:57Z
The weather is rather unpredictable, most of the time it looks sunny and is burning hot but suddenly a thunderstorm strikes for 10 minutes and its back to vaporizing hot climate.

Last year I was vocal for Eta Phi Zeta Sorority, the greek life is limited compared to the University of PR in Utuado but it is still strong. There are many to choose from but not very active as it may be in the states or as recognized. They have parties and get together but nothing fancy.
College Junior 2013-03-13T00:21:47Z
Dining in university of Puerto Rico is good, we only have two cafeteria and they serve mostly the same food. Of course you get tired of eating in the same place but its worth it.
College Junior 2013-03-13T00:15:05Z
In University of Puerto Rico we have a lot of computer labs. We have around two computer lab per building. Printing on campus is very easy and cheap. The network reliability is great and the speed depends on the place you are located. In University of Puerto Rico is best to have your own computer because the computer labs are not open all day and at the end of the day you will be spending a lot of money and time doing all your work in campus.
College Junior 2013-03-13T00:10:47Z
Greek Life in University of Puerto Rico is very normal but is basically more for partying. There are no special house for the sorority. If you are or not in a sorority is not important but it looks good on resume.

It's very easy to find apartments. But not all of them are nice. You just have to look for them and choose the one that is better for you!

Guys & Girls:
Noone cares about how they look. It's pretty good
College Junior 2013-01-10T23:09:41Z
Its barely visible, but there isalways a minority of students that "hide" to do it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
