Write Ups in the Dorm

Honestly, it depends on the RAs but from my experience its not that strict if you are smart about it. A loud room full of people and alcohol will attract attention and get you may be written up, but even if you are you have several more strikes before any extreme action is taken by the school.

As long as you are smart about things its not difficult to stay out of trouble

Drinking in Dorms

I was caught drinking in my dorm room; however, I was actually 21 at the time (came in as a Freshman a few years after graduating high school). The RA was annoying and unsympathetic, but he was just doing his job. The repercussions were minimal. My 18 year old roommate was busted, too, and he had to fill out a survey online and received some sort of mark on his record like a "3 strikes, you're out" kind of thing and I was just hit for the noise complaint. Overall, everyone I had to deal with was really nice and non-judgmental (except the RA) and I didn't feel like I had to jump through hoops just because I was 21. In fact, the Resident Director told me I could drink in my room as long as I kept it inside and didn't buy booze for others. Nobody really gets into any kind of serious trouble for drinking or smoking pot in or around the dorms. As others have said, be discrete when partying in the dorms, which sucks anyway, but sometimes it must be done.

Smokers Beware

In the dorm I live in, we've had big issues with people smoking too close to the building. Their smoke was floating up and in through people's windows. Recently, Campus Security posted signs near every door to into and out of the building saying that anyone found smoking within 25 feet of the building will be written up. Problem solved!
