Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

URI is a school with two identities: It is a place to learn and a place to party. The University offers students many options in the classroom, which leads to many options in life. Students here know the importance of being motivated and focused and are dedicated to getting the best out of their four (or more) years of college. At URI, you will find an atmosphere that is extremely well balanced when it comes to work and play. If URI students learn two things while they are here, they learn how to succeed and how to have a good time. Most students are happy with their choice of making URI their home for higher education.

Students agree that there is an equal balance of academics and social life, and they are expected to do well and are given many opportunities to succeed. The biggest part of college is learning to adjust and knowing what is out there. URI is a friendly environment, and most students are happy here. Academics are the biggest challenge, and getting into the right classes is often an obstacle. There are a lot of organizations and events that engage students throughout the year. Overall, students have a positive experience at URI, and there’s definitely something for everyone to enjoy.

Parking at University of Rhode Island

If you're a commuter, parking in the morning is AWFUL. You either have parking on the very top of campus, or at the very bottom. The top parking lot is near all of the classes, and there are NEVER any spots open if you get there when everyone else does (around 9 or 10 am). If you park at the bottom, you either have to walk up, or wait for the bus (which is never on time). If you live on campus, parking is easier and somewhat near dorms.
