Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

URI students agree that no one is totally off the hook at URI. If you get caught doing something you are not supposed to be doing, regardless of class rank, you will get in trouble. Many students complain about constantly getting in trouble, but that only means that the local police are doing their jobs. Students realize that there are consequences for their actions, and some students really have to watch out. Not only do the campus police watch over URI students, the local police do as well, and it is clear to students that the police are on the lookout for any wrongful behavior.

At a school with such a large student body and an even larger party scene, officials work extra hard to keep students safe. It is their job, and students seem to understand that. Cooperation is key when it comes to run-ins with the law. But no matter how hard you beg and plead, justice will eventually be served if you do something wrong, and you will get in trouble.

Relaxed

URI is pretty relaxed. Our RA's are pretty lenient, I've been caught smoking bud before and they just told us to go somewhere where they can't see us. The RA's are pretty cool people, everyone is always pretty blatantly drunk on the weekends. This is just my hall though, I know a couple of hall's where the RA's make rounds during the weekends. It's pretty easy to hide your alcohol if they knock on the door and I've smoked in the rooms a couple of times. Usually if your written up it's due to your own stupidity. First offense is like fifty dollars but a lot of people get it dismissed. Third strike your kicked off campus, I believe probation is 3 months each period. Our RA's only intervene basically if your passed out due to alcohol poisoning or being too obnoxious.

Strictness

Depending on your dorm and you RA it will vary how much freedom you have. Some RA's don't care what you do while others are out to get you in trouble. The cops are around but have only seen them break up a party once of twice.

Academic Policy Is Strictly Enforced.

You must keep your grades up or you are put on probation. You must attend extra classes ans study halls and even come back from breaks early to make up work.
