Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

URI students agree that no one is totally off the hook at URI. If you get caught doing something you are not supposed to be doing, regardless of class rank, you will get in trouble. Many students complain about constantly getting in trouble, but that only means that the local police are doing their jobs. Students realize that there are consequences for their actions, and some students really have to watch out. Not only do the campus police watch over URI students, the local police do as well, and it is clear to students that the police are on the lookout for any wrongful behavior.

At a school with such a large student body and an even larger party scene, officials work extra hard to keep students safe. It is their job, and students seem to understand that. Cooperation is key when it comes to run-ins with the law. But no matter how hard you beg and plead, justice will eventually be served if you do something wrong, and you will get in trouble.

Pretty Easygoing

Most RAs are not out to get you (mine says if he doesn't see/hear/smell it, he doesn't care). Many parties are off campus, but are usually broken up. Typically the people who live at the house will get an orange sticker for noise violation or something, but nobody gets arrested or anything serious. As for academic policies, it usually depends on the professor. However, I don't know anyone who got caught being "academically dishonest" so I don't know what the punishment would be.

Strictness

Strictness at the University of Rhode Island is lenient. There are rules and if they are broken then there are consequences that follow.

Ridiculous

Academic strictness is a joke. They will peg you for anything that makes it SEEM like you're doing something wrong or dishonest, and in case the student is always wrong. Campus strictness is also a joke. It's a dry campus, so if you're being an obvious drunk they will catch you for it and you will be punished. Also, if you're caught with a bottle of alcohol, you will get fined a 50$ fee, and the next time it goes up more, the third it's more money, and then the fourth you're out of school. Along with that you're written up and have to take classes about alcohol awareness. It's bull.
