Greek life makes up a small percentage of URI. Most students involved in a fraternity or sorority say they are glad they joined and have positive things to say about their experience. Students not involved in Greek life are not complaining, either. Greeks certainly do not rule the school or the social scene, but it is a good way to make friends and keep active on campus. It is however, not the only way to survive life on campus. They are not a dominant group, but if you’re looking to join an organization, check them out.
To independents, Greek life seems like a lame excuse to make—and pay for—friends who strive to be cookie-cutter-replicas of one another. To members, Greek organizations can be utilized as support teams and one giant family unit.

Greek Life
I'm not quite sure what exactly occurs for Greek life members. i've heard good and bad things about it. some see it as the only way to make friends, but others see it as a waste of time and not all that important

Greek Week, held each semester by Greek life members, encourages students to look into joining a frat or aorority. Greek Week comes complete with great parties and a seven days of fun on campus. It is the perfect time to meet people involved with Greek life at URI to see if it is right for you.
Many frat or sorority members choose to live off campus in Narragansett rather than in their respective fraternity or sorority houses. These “off-campus frat/sorority houses” host numerous parties.

College Prowler guides are in the hands of students throughout the entire process. Because you can't make student-written guides without the students, we have students at each campus who write, edit, and survey their peers for every guide that we publish.
