I am not in a fraternity, but just hanging around the campus you'll realize that being in one can greatly boost your social status and life at URI. Most fraternity's number in the hundreds, and are a great way to meet people.

Greek life makes up a small percentage of URI. Most students involved in a fraternity or sorority say they are glad they joined and have positive things to say about their experience. Students not involved in Greek life are not complaining, either. Greeks certainly do not rule the school or the social scene, but it is a good way to make friends and keep active on campus. It is however, not the only way to survive life on campus. They are not a dominant group, but if you’re looking to join an organization, check them out.
To independents, Greek life seems like a lame excuse to make—and pay for—friends who strive to be cookie-cutter-replicas of one another. To members, Greek organizations can be utilized as support teams and one giant family unit.
