Good Looking

At URI, you will see boys and girls of all types. There are girls with blonde hair, preppy and part of a sorority and range to girls that are more conserved and mainly concentrated on their studies. The boys range from urban dressers to preppy boys. Everyone is pretty outgoing on campus.

I-Zone

I-Zone is the best off campus dining. Especially late at night. Open till 3am

Emporium Night

The Emporium is off-campus sort of but its in walking distance. There are a bunch off places to eat in there and they accept you RAM card if you have money on your RAM account, which is a lot easier. IZone is so good! & I've heard the Japanese/Chinese restaurant up there is really good too.

Drugs

A lot of people do drugs. I have never seen anyone get caught.

Emporium

Rhode Island lacks in a diverse group of restaurants, however, there are a few exceptions for example fire and ice.

Campus Strictness at University of Rhode Island

Reality is, if students want to do something, they are going to find a way to do it. University of Rhode Island faculty and police understand this and though they try their best to enforce the rules, they have made it their main goal to keep the students more safe than anything. The policies at the school, relating to health and illness, have been developed well in order to help keep students on track academically.

No Night Life!

A few parties here and there, but for students that are underage many nights are spent in their room, doing homework.

Parties

There are not many clubs around so unless your over 21, there is not much too do. There are alot of parties around but you have to know where to go and they are usually broken up. Also, the ripta buses stop running at eleven so you have to make sure you have a DD or you are not getting back to campus.

The Students

Students from all walks of life are on campus at any given time. Old, young, black, white, whatever. There seems to be plenty of different races (I'm white), but I have heard the opposite from some African-American classmates. I'm not sure. Chances are though, you can find someone with similarities to you in personality, appearance, or clothing style just a few steps away.

Dorm Life

I think that the dorm life on campus is fun depending on how you are. You can meet different people but you can also be as secluded as you'd like. The freshman have the newer/nicer/closer to classes dorms.. and then most of the upperclassman housing is old and really needs remodeling.

URI Has It All

The University of Rhode Island is really top notch. The entire campus is truly beautiful and captures the spirit of a fun loving New England community. A student can become overwhelmed by the charming campus aesthetics similar to that of an ivy league school. The library is a student's blissful escape and fit for every type of student. Not only are there vending machines and a kiosk that serves coffee and bagels in the library, but there are different areas fit for all different types of studiers and an ideal view overlooking the entire campus. The student union has everything a student could possibly need- a food court, coffee shops, a bookstore, a hair salon, etc. and the Ryan Center holds the most exciting concerts and basketball games that every student looks forward to.

The computer network on campus is not bad. There is wireless networks throughout the whole campus. The computer labs are busy during the morning and afternoons.

Greek life has no role in my social life. I have not been to a frat or sorority party since the first week of school my freshman year.

URI is less diverse than what I am...

URI is less diverse than what I am used to coming here from the Philadelphia area. But, I do know of a lot of people here that think URI is very diverse compared to where they are from.

Crime on campus is relatively...

Crime on campus is relatively nonexistent. Overall, the student body is respectable to everyone. The large, but friendly campus police presence may contribute to this.

The gym, track, and pool are...

The gym, track, and pool are excellent, and the computer labs are great. On the Bay Campus, the facilities stand alone in quality in the oceanography and ocean engineering fields and are recognized nationwide.

Many URI students live off campus...

Many URI students live off campus in the neighboring town. The atmosphere is amazing, and you can walk around on a Friday or Saturday night and find somewhere to go.

I first wanted to go to URI because I knew it would be a good time. It’s a party school and I wanted to party. I was a little surprised when I got here and realized that it was completely different than what I expected it to be. I thought there would be more partying on campus and I didn’t realize about all the off-campus life.

The worst is walking to class in the rain. I use an umbrella, and I still get wet. I wish it didn’t rain as much.

It’s been raining a lot lately. I don’t remember fall being so rainy in the past. When I wake up and see that it is raining, I don’t want to go to class, and I try to figure out if I can afford to miss it or not. I just want to stay warm and dry.

My favorite season here is probably the summer. I love the beach, and I love to surf. We are right on the water, so I try to get out there as much as I can. Hurricane season is awesome, too, because you get good waves.

My dorm doesn’t have air-conditioning and you definitely need a fan. It gets so stuffy in there, and I hate to sweat. I don’t know what I would do without my fan.

We always got in trouble for the...

We always got in trouble for the noise. Our room was right above the dorm room directors and she would come up all the time to ask us to lower our music and keep it down. We never got written up, it was just verbal warnings. We weren’t really doing anything bad. We would just be getting ready to go out and would have the music on loud. I’m sure if we were drinking or something we would have gotten written up.
